However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain information from this volume of data due to lack of trained professionals. In this context, we describe a set of tools and processes that encourage and empower citizen data scientists to make use of the information available from the abundance of data and obtain a better return on investment for their organizations, institutions and or personal decisions.

The stock prices of 30 companies on the Dow Jones Index were collected for this period. Twitter tweets were also collected, using the search phrases “COVID-19” and “Corona Virus” for the same period, and their sentiment scores were calculated. The three time series, open and close stock values, and the corresponding sentiment scores from tweets were sorted by date and combined. Multivariate time series models based on vector error correction (VEC) models were applied to this data. Forecasts for these 30 companies were made for the time series open, for the 30 days of June 2020, following the data collection period. Stock market data for the month of June was for all the companies was compared with the forecast from the model. These were found to be in excellent agreement, implying that sentiment ha...
International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, Telangana,... more International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, Telangana, India *E-mail: [email protected] Sunflower is grown in India in all seasons. But in the kharif season, it is subjected to intermittent stress and in rabi to end-season stress. Though many traits have been reported to be contributing to drought tolerance, root traits are of particular importance as they mine water from soil and aid in avoiding drought. Contrasting genotypes with high and poor root growth were selected, based on a composite index computed considering root and shoot traits simultaneously. High root genotypes recorded per plant mean root length, root volume and root dry weight of 120 cm, 129 cc, 20.5 g as against 65 cm, 35 cc and 5.3 g in poor root types. Fifteen high root and three poor root genotypes were evaluated in field during summer season for two years (2013 and 2014) by growing them in a strip plot with three replications. Stress was imposed at the most sensi...

Factor Analysis is performed on patient data to understand the severity of mental health, and Random Forest models are used to determine the probability of a patient becoming an inpatient for the next 30/60/90 days from their last visit to the physician’s office. The Random Forest model fits the data with an overall OOB Error rate of 3.69% and an accuracy of 97.65%. The accuracy on the test data was 96.11%. A web application is also developed to provide a user-friendly interface for physicians and administrators to interact with and obtain relevant information for a given patient and or a group of patients. The web application affords physicians additional inputs to assist in their diagnosis and a...

This strategy is evaluated for data reduction with a Kaggle diabetes dataset. Since the original dataset is small, Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) and Variational Autoencoders (VAE) are used to generate 100,000 records and tested for resemblance to the real data using standard statistical methods. VAE-data is more representative of the real data than GAN-data when analyzed using machine learning (ML) models. Applying Clustering of Variables on VAE-data yields new synthetic variables (SV). SV-data is then augmented with target variable data. Random Forest model is used on VAE and SV data. SV-data results matched VAE-data, proving the new data's quality. SV-data also provides insights into correlations and data dispersion patterns. This analysis implements a combination of Unsupervised learning (clustering of variables) and Supervised learning (classification) which is reflected in the results.

The base variables used for the analysis include the relative altitude, the accelerometer acceleration, quaternion, the relative motion of gravity, the user acceleration, and the relative gyro rotation in an x, y, and z plane. Based on previous related studies, extensive feature engineering was utilized to generate 171 unique features from those previously mentioned, which showed a dramatic increase in accuracy. The Label Smoothing Cross Entropy feature was also utilized to make a better generalization of the proposed model. We were able to achieve 95% average on our test data sets which out performed a previous similar work by a good margin of 20%.

Driving violations is one of the topics that have been recorded over multiple years. Several studies have been conducted to predict driver behavior using simulations and other tools such as built-in sensors in the vehicles. This research activity focuses on the design of an interactive Big data web application to analyze a given dataset using techniques such as cluster analysis and predict driving violations based on available demographics. The rest of the paper describes the suite of technologies for Big data analytics that facilitated this development and the implications of this study.

The purpose of the project is to use advances in technology including Bluetooth, the Internet and micro sensors to design an inexpensive model of a smart farm. The project brings ideas related to IoT and smart cities within the reach of a common man. Advances in technology and simplicity of high level programming languages make it also possible for anyone who is interested to easily build a smart connected system that can be communicated with, using inexpensive components and a simple program. This project demonstrates one such novel application of a smart farm with the use of a microbit, a humidity sensor and WiFi to monitor moisture levels of plants and depending on a set threshold the program sends an appropriate message to the owner of the plants. The use of a very simple microcontroller (the microbit) makes the project accessible to students at college ...

The role of the teacher is to guide students in this act of learning and help them be motivated (1). In this paper we discuss how Information Technology through game programming can be used effectively to motivate and actively engage middle and high school students in the act of learning computer programming. The context of game technology provides the necessary excitement that students need to be motivated to learn. It also provides an inter-disciplinary platform for the student to understand the connections between concepts from different subjects. This paper describes the design and implementation of a game in Visual basic .net built by a group of at-risk students and presents some observations from this experience.

A radial deflection wire (42) connects the tip portion to a first manipulator (10) at the handle to radially deflect the tip portion to a curved shape. A multifunction wire (60) extends from a second manipulator (11) at the handle to the tip portion. The second manipulator slides the multifunction wire longitudinally to position the distal end (64) of the multifunction wire along the multifunction lumen (38). The distal end of the multifunctional wire and the multifunction lumen are configured to provide interfering torquing surfaces (68, 70) so that when a third manipulator (12) rotates or torques the proximal end (62) of the multifunctional wire, the torquing force exerted between the interfering torquing surface causes lateral deflection of the radially curved tip portion. The catheter is constructed so that lateral deflection of the radially deflected tip portion is totally or at least substantially in-plane lateral deflection.

We address this issue at the source, the student's early academic experiences in middle and high school, where exposure to technical subjects is limited due to their cost and the nature of secondary institutions. TRE provides a transparent system through which students can interact with robots located in the classroom or in a remote lab. Most importantly, TRE Provides an abstracted environment, allowing the creation of different modules for different functionality based on student experience and the content being taught or exposed. This makes the system versatile enough for primary school students to solve a maze, or high school students to discover the physical representation of a derivative. We describe the architecture, the goals and an initial experiment of the TRE platform.
