The problem becomes worse when the recycler needs to deal with complex plastic products that could disable their initiatives to recycling. This study aims to conceptualize three main factors to influence plastic product recycling such as plastics grade, disassembly orientation, and different color into an assessment tool to evaluate the plastic product recycling performance. The data collection of this study was conducted based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology before it was used for assessment tool development. The assessment tool has been reviewed and validated by two field experts in product design and green product field. The developed plastic recycling assessment tool could assist the industry practitioners especially the product designers in rethinking of their conceptual design that could ease the recycling activities.

The objective of this paper is to minimize the makespan for group of jobs waiting in the process system. It proposed a new heuristic that apply dynamic weighted idle time (DWIT) that used several weight factor values as a multiplication factor of the total idle time. The result shows that the average percentage errors and standard deviation for DWIT heuristic are smaller compared to the NEH (Nawaz, Enscore and Ham) and it achieved more than 50% of optimum answer. Therefore, this DWIT heuristic has great potential to outperform the NEH heuristic.

In order to further investigate the ABC capabilities, we proposed a methodology with the capability of manipulating the onlooker bee approaches in ABC Algorithm for solving flowshop scheduling problem. This paper reviews the analysis of the performance of the ABC algorithm through three different onlooker approaches i.e. method 3+0+0 (three onlooker bees are dedicated to the best employed bee), method 2+1+0 (two onlooker bees are dedicated to the best employed bee and one onlooker bee is dedicated to second best employee bee) and method 1+1+1 (one onlooker bee is dedicated to each employed bee). The simulation results indicated that method 2+1+0 produces best result at low iterations of 102 and below. At high iterations of 204 and above method 3+0+0 dominates the best performance.

Due to the re-entrant and permutation nature of the process routing, the actual bottlenecks were identified as M3 and it utilized makespan algorithms to identify bottleneck categories. Using these conditions, a new bottleneck based heuristic which called BB is developed and tested using Macro Programming in Microsoft Excel. The main objective of this project is to evaluate the performance of M3 bottleneck-based heuristic for M1M2M3 flow shop problems. A total of 3000 simulations were conducted using randomly data in order to evaluate the accuracy of the heuristic. The heuristic performance was evaluated for six and ten job problems. The dominance level groups are divided into levels of weak, medium and strong dominance. For each job problem, the BB results were compared against the results of complete enumeration and lower bound analysis. The results suggested that BB heuristic is very effective in solving scheduling problems within the strong P3 dominance level range.

This paper describes a methodology for developing a model. In this study, a motorcycle assembly plant has been selected as the main place of research study. The basic idea is how to represent and evaluate the assembly line model. The developed methodology is based on real life application problems faced by the industry. By using an applicable model selection procedure, a model representation is discussed. This paper presents a basic knowledge on model representation for an industrial case study related to a double-sided assembly line system. It is apparent that the developed model can evaluate the optimisation problems and be used for future system upgrades. The data was analyzed and it is suitable for mathematical programming model.

PFSP is also considered as an optimization problem and it is often solved using the swarm intelligence approach. In this paper, Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is used for solving PFSP. To investigate the effect of trial counter (TC) to the performance of ABC, the TC value was set to six (6), twelve (12) and eighteen (18). Additionally, the percentage of errors was selected as the response. From the experimental results, it can be concluded that ABC algorithm performs best when the TC is set at six (6) because the value of cumulative error percentages is at the lowest. Moreover, the generated data is also located in the smallest spread compared to TC=12 and TC=18. It can also be concluded that the exploration principle works better in a 6 jobs and 3 machines PFSP environment.

Due to the re-entrant and permutation nature of the process routing, the actual bottlenecks were identified as M1 and combinations of M4+M3+M4 and it utilized two makespan algorithms to identify bottleneck categories. Each algorithm was only valid under several conditions identified as absolute bottleneck conditions. Using these conditions, a new bottleneck based heuristic which called NH is developed and tested using Macro Programming in Microsoft Excel. A total of 3000 simulations were conducted using randomly data in order to evaluate the accuracy of the heuristic. The heuristic performance was evaluated for six and ten job problems. The dominance level groups are divided into levels of weak, medium and strong dominance. For each job problem, the NH results were compared with previously developed absolute bottleneck adjacent matching (ABAM) heuristic. For six job problems, it was shown that the NH performances at medium dominance level are better than ABAM. For ten job problems, the result indicated that NH only produced better result than ABAM at the strong dominance level.

Indonesia left behind in launching the policy timeline of the I4.0 initiative, compared to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. In an official government report, Indonesia’s I4.0 index showed a low score at an average of 1.992 (scale 0 to 4). Indonesia designed INDI 4.0 (Industry 4.0 readiness index Indonesia) in 2018 to prepare industry readiness. It lacks accuracy and is less comprehensive in capturing I4.0 readiness, especially in the factory operation aspect. INDI 4.0 just provides very few questions to capture extensive information in measuring I4.0. This study aimed to develop a comprehensive I4.0 index by enhancing INDI 4.0 in the factory operation aspect. By exploring issues in the I4.0 readiness index, the research extensively searched the journal articles and some other I4.0 indexes used in some countries. Finally, the paper ...

In the two sided assembly line balancing problem, tasks are divided into three main categories; depending on sides position either right side (R), left side (L) or can be positioned at any sides (E). In addition, random task selection is added to conventional priority rules to present the effect of multi-solutions on two-sided assembly line balancing. Tests conducted to evaluate the performance of the spreadsheet methodology has shown that the introduction of the random priority rule has generated better performance results for the two-sided assembly line balancing problem.

The approach uses process flow diagram to identify the main activities of the system and routings of the manufacturing work process. Based on the process flow diagram, corresponding timed transition Petri net models are produced and they are used for simulation purposes to determine the start and completion time at each work process. Petri net simulations are also used to determine the optimal schedule arrangement. Based on the Petri net simulations result, alternative makespan and completion time algorithms focusing on the bottleneck process in the manufacturing system are developed. These algorithms are found to be effective within specific limitation characteristics known as absolute bottleneck conditions.

This case is a huge challenge for the government to overcome. Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) stated that the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 196.7 million in the middle of 2020. Meanwhile, data from Google & Temasek showed purchasing products via e-Commerce in Indonesia reached US$ 10.9 billion in 2017 and continuously increased in 2020. Most cooperatives in Indonesia run business conventionally with manual transactions, limited time, traditional logistics, and conventional membership administration. Nowadays, the institution with tens of thousands of members no longer effectively runs cooperative conventionally in a disruptive era. A conventional cooperative at a private university in Jakarta was observed in the study. There are tens of thousands of students and staff ...
