It was designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee and engineered by Severud Associates and Hannskarl Bandel in 1977. The building reached its completion in 1980. This paper will focus on assessing its seismic condition through a detailed analysis of its site conditions, building code compliance, structural composition and other non-structural contributing aspects.

It is of particular interest that before the very notion of modernism arose, Ruskin and Semper were broadly deemed to be proponents of ornamentation chose to support their advocacy of architectural ornamentation through their individual work. The very prominent examples are Ruskin’s The Seven Lamps of Architecture and Semper’s The Four Elements of Architecture. To say that Ruskin and Semper were proponents of architectural ornamentation, one must realise that they claimed the same stance through very different reasoning and logic within their respective theories. Examples of their attitudes on the subject of ornamentation found within their text will be analysed in this paper as it would be of interest to acknowledge not only their general stance on the idea of architectural ornamentation but also address the differences between their respective logic and reasoning that they chose to justify their pro-ornamentation stance.

Apart from that, since Mr. Stahl made the commission directly from seeing Case Study House #21, Koenig did almost strictly follow the case study program’ intent for the Stahl House.

However, the representations and curation of the human figures often vary in their success in creating the desired effects beyond the visual scales. This paper focuses on analysing the successes and failings of composed photographs done by architectural photographers and curated sketches and juxtapositions published by architects such as Charles Eames, Ray Eames, Alison Smithson, Peter Smithson, Theo van Doesburg, Le Corbusier, Steven Holl and Aldo van Eyck.
