Unlike any other industries, IT caters the idea of knowledge and market, two essential pillars in the knowledge economy. Also, unlike the old type of financial economy which tends to be excessive due to its weighting on growth development, the term knowledge economy brings the idea of human capital investment and greater opportunity for vertical mobilization, hence promises more social equity. However, despite a more positive outlook towards India, records on poverty, malnutrition, and other social issues in India seem unmoved. This paper attempts to highlight how IT industry has actually developed in India and how likely it will lead to.

Compared to environment literacy, which focus on transforming the learning of the individuals through schools, ecological literacy adopts the idea of relationship between living organisms and ecosystems, and links it with the idea of religiosity or spirituality through various learning mechanism. This research is written as an effort to understand the prospect and the limit of social media use for ecological literacy learning, led by women. Availing from the massive subscription of social media among Indonesians and their significant share of information on sustainable living, the study seeks to probe on whether social media has shifted people's conception on place and experience, which are fundamental to the value formation on human-environment relation in ecological literacy. From a combined online and offline ethnography, the study found that social media, instead of weakening ecological literacy learning, may restitute people-place relations through information and connectivity it facilitates.

Having attracted many housewives to follow their footsteps, existing studies, departing from ecofeminism, have underlined their impactful presence. While an etic evaluation might be pertinent to analyse how much this increasing public role able to improve their stake, an emic reading is no less important to understand their own interpretation. The study argues that a contextual reading of Muslim women's engagement with everyday environmentalism in Indonesia cannot be undertaken by dissuading their view of religiousness, while permeating it with a prescribed gendered analysis provided by ecofeminism. But instead of rejecting the latter, the paper delves into the dynamic interplay of emic and etic rendition to the place of women, environmentalism in everyday life, and religion in Indonesia. Employing ethnography, the study found multiple layers of meaning of religiousness, showing their complicated relation with religious institution and an uneasy alliance with any given feminist ideas.

Being one of the aggressors, Japan is held accused by many of its former occupations for war violations, including Philippine, Indonesia, Korea, and China. This issue, however, have never been touched down upon the people of Japan, except maybe for few people whose family members were military and dispatched for Asia Pacific war. Politically, stories about Japan's war violations have been kept secret by the convolution of SCAP (Supreme Command of the Allied Powers) concerning the dethronement of the emperor and the absolution of Japan's wartime criminal on the one hand and the enthrallment of Japan in the cold war on the other hand. Culturally, work of popular arts has helped pass on war memories to the younger generation. Political censorship that once helped the post-war government to impose historical silencing has no longer relevant with the current state of openness. Taking popular arts, especial...

The former type of research used to be deduced through the confirmation that economic wellbeing and democracy are positively correlated. Yet, accepting the sweeping account that the rise of the middle class has promoted democracy at face value may not be helpful in explaining why conflict persists globally. Diametrically opposed to the idea of rational economy, primordial difference, which tends to promote identity politics, remains to be the driver for conflict within and between countries. Using the intervening variable of religion, this research endeavored to highlight how the rise of the middle class in India affects the democratic run of the country. This research found that the increasing middle class in India has elevated religiosity through the intrusion of religious element...

Taking the case of women porters in a traditional market in south central Java, the research aimed at investigating the way in which modernity influences the type of co-modification brewing in the city and the impact it eventually gives to these women porters. Using ethnographic method and drawing from the combined cultural and political economic approach, the research found that there is a lapse between what is currently regarded as agency and victim, attached to the idea of women's deliberation, including Javanese women. The research concluded that only by looking at the dynamic relationship between the traditional cultural aspect and the modern political economic, one can get a clear picture of the contending relations between modernization on the one hand and tradition on the other hand and how this contention has influenced the livelihood of traditional ma...

The problem with this framework is its reliance upon performance, while lacking of awareness on the mundane aspects of everyday life, where public issues seep into with its own complexity. To fill this gap, the study uses Social Learning Theory as well as Uses and Gratification Theory to understand to what extent social media supports learning for sustainable living. By way of an ethnographic study on online community, the study found that the women under study have utilized the social media strategically to respond to the health issue and environmental problem, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, through the discourse practice of sustainable living. Keywords: online community, social media activism, social learning, sustainable living.
