Dželila Babović (1975) graduated from the Department of Oriental Philology of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. She received her master's and PhD degrees at the same University in the literary and social sciences and she is Senior Research Associate for Arabic Studies at the Oriental Institute University of Sarajevo. Primary sphere of interest and scholarly research is the study of Islamic Manuscripts and promotion of the role and significance of Islamic culture in the history of humanity.
Dželila Babović is the author of a books Recepcija arapske književnosti u Bosni i Hercegovini u periodu 1950.-2005. [The Reception of Arabic Literature in Bosnia and Herzegovina 1950 2005] (2011), Kaside bosanskih pjesnika na arapskom jeziku [Qasidas by Bosnian Poets in Arabic] (2018) and co-author of a books Katalog arapskih, turskih i bosanskih rukopisa Muzeja Hercegovine Mostar [Catalogue of Arabic, Turkish and Bosnian Manuscripts of the Museum of Herzegovina in Mostar] in collaboration with dr. Madžida Mašić and Al-luga al-ʻarabiyya fī al-Būsna wa al-Hersek [The Arabic Language in Bosnia and Herzegovina] in partnership with Arabic Studies scholars and experts in Arabic history and culture from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Through her published books, academic research projects, academic and professional papers, reviews of recent works, participation at international conferences, and through her public, academic, social and cultural activity, Dr Dželila Babović has consistently demonstrated her dedication to promoting Islamic culture and literature, studying the various influences of Islamic culture on the development of humanity as a whole and the strong influence of Islamic culture on Bosnian-Herzegovinian culture and tradition.
