Therefore, specifically, Larkana city of Pakistan is selected as the study area where the land suitability model was applied to determine suitable land for public parks. This study was carried out within the framework of an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a multi-criteria evaluation approach by integrating it with the Geographic Information System (GIS). Decision support system software called Expert choice 11.5 was used to calculate the weights based on three alternative scenarios. Computed composite weights were inserted into the spatial analysis function of GIS and produced three scenarios of suitability maps, i.e.: (a) land availability, (b) land value and (c) population density. Hence, based on the analysis and findings made in this research, finding suitable locations using the land suitability model for future park development is highly helpful. Results can be useful in the planning of public facilities and future land use planning in Larkana city.

The research objectives of this paper are (i) to determine the driver’s emotions when passing through the roadside tree species (ii) To examine the relationship between roadside tree species and the driver’s emotions. This research used a mixed-method using survey and interviews. Interviews were conducted in a public place such as at rest stops and restaurant around the side of the highway. A set of questionnaires including demographic background and illustration of seven tree shapes along the roadside shown for reference. Ten positive and negative drivers’ emotions have been identified and described by the respondents when passing through the road that has different types of trees shapes. Columnar shape tree indicated the first rank for the suggestions of roadside trees species. Parameter joy displayed a very strong relationship that was statistically very high positive correlation with conical shape trees (tau-b=0.89 <0.01). The research expanded the present body of knowledge in the area of the selection of appropriate roadside tree species in urban areas and taking into account the drivers’ emotional factors.

It is under category of environmental setting that correlate with quality of life among community. The sense of community and feeling secured living in neighborhood are another indicators as quality of life. A total of 86 respondents were randomly selected involving in this study. This study is quantitative in nature using a questionnaire. The survey involved asking residents to answer a questionnaire that was administered using face to face interviews. The questionnaire contained 6 parts:Part 1-background information, Part 2-the needs of public park, Part 3perception of safety, Part 4fear of crime, Part 5-sense of community, and Part 6-perception on crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED). Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) is used in the early stages to gather information about the interrelationships among variables. The Cronbach"s Alpha (α) value was used to determine the level of reliability through the internal consistency for each factor. The result for validity of all construct achieved Alpha (α) value exceeding 0.70. The observation on environmental setting in neighborhood and district of Selama also carried out to identify environmental factors that contribute in quality of life among residents. Hence, the objective of this paper is to determine the factors that influence on Happiest Selama Community. Therefore at the end of this paper, the output will be used to find the relationship between environmental setting andfactors of quality of life among residents in Selama district.

It has been practised for over 1400 years in the Arabian Peninsula and is believed to be the most widespread system of traditional conservation in the Middle East, and perhaps the entire earth. They have secured sustainable use of renewable natural resources by and for the people living adjacent to them. Thus 'hima' has been one of the most successful institutions integrating nature conservation with human wellbeing. In these modern times, environmental protection is a new concept which has emerged in response to modern problems linked to industrialisation and globalisation. In reality, the need to protect the environment from abuse has been a constant concern for humans since the beginning of time-especially for people who were living directly of the earth's resources. Poor land management and man's greed in getting instant wealth have been identified as amongst the reasons that contribute to the degradation of environmental quality, especially that which relates directly to land. The aims of this paper are to highlight the concept and characteristics of the hima in spatial planning and management and how it can be allocated in neighbourhood areas. A neighbourhood area of Kota Bharu, Kelantan has been used as a study area for mapping the potential hima.

Despite the increasing demand, the quality produced highly depends on a certain plant, Ixora spp. The practice of planting design in landscape development only by considering the aesthetic values leads to the poor productivity of stingless bee honey. Therefore, this review focuses on the suitability of native plants used in landscapes designed for stingless bees. This study employed thematic analysis related to the issues between native plants, stingless bee and landscape development. Based on the assessment, literature on stingless bees discussed issues related to its habitat in the tropical rain forest, the behaviour of finding food, characteristics of its honey and the benefits of consuming the honey. Meanwhile, studies on native plant demonstrated the use of plants in providing food and habitat to the local insects which contribute to the continuity of the species....

Walkability in a street network increases potential trips by pedestrians through sidewalks and linked streets to create shorter travel distances. Street designs for pedestrian walkways are commonly ignored, with more focus on vehicular access, consequently leading to a lack of effort in improving the street network designs linked to various destinations. Accordingly, this paper reviews the street network designs affecting walkability from the perspective of the urban community. A systematic literature review method was employed to identify and analyse the articles published in the Sciencedirect.com database between 2004 and 2020 using two keywords: street network design and walkable city. The main finding suggested that street networks were associated with proper street designs. Therefore, a walkable city developed from a thriving s...

Hence, this paper aims to define the basic criteria for street network of Malaysia's local town. Pasir Puteh, Baling, Rembau and Pontian were selected based on the diversity of the street network structure develop from beginning to the modern era. The towns were mapped using land use data. This study employed comparative analysis to assess similarity and differences on the principles and term of street network system. The finding suggests that local towns founded before independence retain the historical value of the street system built by the colonizer and new zone of local town is to serve the community rather than the administration. Thus, the research on how street network in local town influence vehicle or pedestrian movement is recommended.
