Offset is used to describe a method of printing in which an inked image is put onto a metal plate... more Offset is used to describe a method of printing in which an inked image is put onto a metal plate, then onto a rubber blanket and only then onto a paper surface. Offset printing is a sophisticated printing technology that has gained wider currency across the world and this equipment is commonly applied today. It maintains quality while producing printed materials like books, magazines, newspapers, business cards, letterheads, posters, leaflets, calendars, catalogues and such similar stuff. According to data collected from different sources, an estimated 6,500 offset printing presses are currently operating in Bangladesh, with mostly based in Dhaka. Most of the offset printing houses are located in Dhaka city’s Naya Paltan, Bangla Bazar, Fakirapool, Kataban and Nilkhet neighbourhoods. As many as 300,000 people are directly involved with this vital work of printing different materials. Graphic designers are the heart of the press as they are inextricably linked with printing activities. Offset printing presses have to follow certain steps and processes to get the work done perfectly. In this skeletal but seminal study, the researcher has endeavoured with due diligence to identify the challenges and explore the prospects of the offset printing industry.

Besides, the researcher has compared the representation of women in Bangladeshi ads with those of other countries. Advertising appeared as a significant component of society and culture. Advertising is a paid form of communication to promote the goods or services in a persuasive way. Objectifying of women is not a new idea in Bangladeshi advertising or media. The researcher mentions different advertising areas such as TVC, newspaper advertising, billboard, social media campaigns etc. In this paper, the researcher has collected information from both primary and secondary sources. Bangladeshi advertising has a long history. Bangladeshi society is comparatively conservative than that of Western society. Women’s participation in the society has been increased after the 90s in which the expansion of garments industry it played the pivoting role, and now around 4 million of women are in active in the garment industry the advertisers and the advertising agencies portray women in typical roles such as mother, daughter and housemaid. Only in few occasions women are found in responsible positions in the advertising. Besides, fair skin complexion is a phenomenon in Bangladeshi advertisements. More regulatory body and scrutinization by the monitoring agency can solve this problem.

During study the researcher has reviewed both Bengali and English books designed and printed in Bangladesh. With the development of latest computer programmes in last 10 years designers now conveniently use computer programmes to design a book cover. Features like high paper price, printing colours and cost of different instruments hold a significant amount of role in this industry. In the past, cover designers were dependent on their drawing skill, artistic talent and aesthetic attitude, capability to make art speak the viewers what the creator thinks and so on. But now designers develop cover designs very rapidly with the use of computer programmes.

It is not only a medium of publishing the content, also a subject of art and industry. Besides it plays a vital role in economic sphere. A successful or effective advertisement contains artistic and aesthetic elements to catch the attention of its audience. One can find useful information, source of entertainment and various beauty tips from advertisements and thus it becomes popular. It provides message to the customers or consumers. This research mainly aims to operate on various types of advertisements in Bangladesh, such as-newspaper advertisements, billboard promotion, Television Commercial (TVC) and digital advertising. The prime objective of the research is to evaluate the artistic and aesthetic elements of advertising in Bangladesh.

In 50s and 60s, many Bangladeshi artists went abroad for higher studies. They got inspired by the Western style of art practices. A total of 30 art pieces have been collected and considered for this research. This research paper employed a qualitative approach. It can be said in findings that Bangladesh's abstract art is characterized by different styles, colours, textures and shapes. There is a good number of followers of abstract art in Bangladesh.
