Its objective is to examine the rhetorical strategies employed in the address, such as repetition, hyperbolic language, antithesis, and narrative structure. The analysis also takes into account sociocultural context factors along with power dynamics and ideological positioning evident in the address. The findings highlighted how language choices impact persuasion within political discourse by constructing a cohesive message that reinforces American values while inspiring hope for future endeavours. However, it is important to note that this analysis only focuses on a single case study without comparing President Trump's discourse with other political figures' speeches or statements. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of his communication style and strategies, future research could expand its scope by incorporating a wider range of speeches from different contexts considering sociocultural factors with multiple perspectives.

This study investigates the intricate interplay between intertextuality and discourse in Ken Liu'... more This study investigates the intricate interplay between intertextuality and discourse in Ken Liu's evocative short story Paper Menagerie, focusing on cultural identity negotiation and heritage language dynamics. Through qualitative literary analysis involving multiple close readings, thematic coding, comparative contextualization, and detailed interpretation, the interplay between Liu's masterful integration of multifaceted cultural allusions and the discourse patterns surrounding generational language divides and struggles with self-concept is examined. The analysis reveals how Liu adeptly employs intertextuality through origins, Qingming festivities, and other symbols to create resonance and authenticity in exploring assimilationist tensions, while patterns in the text reinforce acculturative pressures and resulting linguistic barriers faced by immigrants. Ultimately, these layers synergize to reflect deeply on the preservation of identity tensions. As with textual analysis, subjective interpretive constraints persist, limiting generalizability. Further exploration through intertextual threads in Liu's broader writings could enrich the understanding of his versatile identity while revealing philosophical evolution. The intricate symbiosis between intertextuality and discourse breathes life into this narrative, crystallizing universally relatable experiences through a culturally specific lens. While bittersweet, Liu's artistry is a poignant reminder that interweaving past and present fosters empathy across paper menageries.

This study aimed to compare and analyse aspects of religious discrimination in the Qur'anic story of Ashab Al-Kahf and in Shakespeare's comedy The Merchant of Venice. In addition, this study examines the psychological effects on characters due to this phenomenon and the ways they either coped with or resisted it. The approach employed here was qualitative, and the study was conducted from Bhabha's postcolonial perspective. The findings showed that both Ashab Al-Kahf and Shylock experienced identity crises related to religious discrimination, which they resisted through hybridisation and withdrawal subsequently. Not only would this study be beneficial to researchers in literature, but it would also be so to others in sociology, psychology, and forensic studies. However, this study is limited to one theory of analysis, and the sample was insufficient, especially on the part of the story of Ashab Al-Kahf. This study recommends a reading of the story of Ashab Al-Kahf and Shakespeare's comedy The Merchant of Venice from psychoanalytic perspectives.

The inevitable interaction between the colonizer and the colonized produced a conflict of ideologies and a clash of cultures. Literature has been a reflection of this dark part of human history, among which short stories reveal almost exactly what larger literary genres maintain in terms of ideology and culture. This paper aimed to analyze Grace Ogot's collection of short stories, entitled Land Without Thunder, from postcolonial perspectives. The approach used was descriptive qualitative, according to which most stories were thoroughly analyzed. This analysis showed that Land Without Thunder had presented ideologically conflicted discourse. Moreover, Ogot intended to use much of her native language and dialect to identify her people's indigenous culture. This paper may be limited in theory as the collection of these stories also tackles genderoriented issues and psychological conflicts, which require different theories other than the postcolonial. In future papers, it is suggested that Land Without Thunder be read from both feminist and psychoanalytic perspectives.

Postcolonial theory is, by definition, the best in this regard. This study aimed to approach Ama Ata Aidoo's Anowa and Maishe Maponya's The Hungry Earth, and establish a comparison between them in the light of postcolonial perspectives. The method used in this study is qualitative, and the texts are taken from Gilbert's Postcolonial plays, which include a collection of contemporary plays considered by critics as masterpieces of postcolonial literature. This analysis showed that Anowa and The Hungry Earth are anti-colonial plays par excellence. They both mirror the cruelty and oppression of Western colonialism in Africa and reveal some of its colonial discourse and ideologies. They condemn and document the horrible aspects of discrimination and exploitation. Moreover, they both imply different strategies to resist colonialism, among which mimicry, hybridity, and armed fighting are the most highlighted. This study could be beneficial to students of postcolonial literature to build on it in their future studies. This study recommends the application of other literary theories in the analysis of these two plays, amongst them Feminism and Marxism. In addition to the postcolonial-oriented themes covered in this article, a sense of patriarchy, social inequality, and class distinction is also developed.

It brings life to text and meaning to gesture. It breaks down all obstacles between the work and its audience. Drama is the most authentic representation of literature since it incorporates performance into text and embodies meaning on stage. This paper aimed to psychoanalyse Harold Pinter's The Homecoming according to Sigmund Freud's theories, particularly self-defence mechanisms, oedipal complex, sibling rivalry, and the concept of a dysfunctional family. The approach used in this study is qualitative, in which description and analysis are provided. The discussion showed that The Homecoming reflects human nature in its extreme state in which "what should not be" outgrows "what should be". It is a play of contradiction, violation, and menace. However, it is recommended to analyse The Homecoming in future papers using feminist theory as the play challenges established norms of femininity and imposes aspects of patriarchy.

This difference in culture often poses problems for translators. Therefore, researchers have been developing strategies such as domestication and foreignisation to overcome cultural obstacles to translation. This study explored the use of these strategies in the audiovisual translation of documentaries from the National Geographic channel translated into Arabic. It also sought to reveal to what extent these strategies were used and which strategy was applied more, using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected from various documentaries and analysed manually. Findings concluded that translators in National Geographic Abu Dhabi tended to mingle domestication and foreignisation strategies and shift from one to another on purpose. The choice of the appropriate strategy depended on whether the translator defended his cultural and social identity against all that was foreign and strange through domestication or whether he accepted the other and welcomed his foreignness. This study is limited in terms of samples and thus recommends expanding the number of documentaries selected for analysis in future works.

According to Fairclough's three-dimensional model of analysis-text, discursive practice, and social practice-the research investigated Biden's linguistic strategies and their socio-political aftermath. Through textual analysis, results showed inclusive pronouns, repetition, and parallel structures as ways Biden fostered national unity. Discursive practice analysis revealed how Biden merged formal political discourse with emotive language to appeal both to institutional authority and emotional bonds. The social practice dimension laid open Biden's efforts to position the United States in the world, particularly in terms of democracy versus autocracy. Findings suggested that through strategic language use and issue framing, Biden outlined a narrative of national unity, economic fairness, and global leadership. This research contributed to an understanding of how political discourse shapes public perception and policy agendas in contemporary democracies. It underscores the need for ongoing research into the evolution of political discourse in light of global challenges and changing media contexts.

The speech was identified as pivotal in the global climate movement as it mobilised youth activism to challenge entrenched power structures and dominant ideologies of climate inaction. Based on Fairclough's three-dimensional model, this analysis explores how Thunberg's language is a tool of resistance, focusing on textual features, discursive practices, and broader sociocultural implications. The analysis reveals how Thunberg skillfully uses emotional appeals, moral indictment, and scientific reasoning within her speech to reframe the narrative framing of climate change to locate youth as principal agents of change. Her speech transcends traditional climate discourse, rigorously invoking intergenerational justice and appealing to urgent, actionable change. This study contributes to a debate on environmental communication, youth-led activism, and the intersection of language and power in global policy.

Using Duolingo in Teaching and Learning Vocabulary: A Systematic Review, 2024
This systematic review examines the extant literature on the efficacy of the Duolingo application... more This systematic review examines the extant literature on the efficacy of the Duolingo application for vocabulary development in instructed second language (L2) contexts. Drawing on several empirical studies, the review synthesises findings related to (a) the comparative effectiveness of Duolingo versus traditional pedagogies, (b) the impact of Duolingo on learner motivation and engagement, and (c) practical implications for classroom integration. While the majority of evidence attests to measurable gains in receptive vocabulary knowledge, the findings must be interpreted with caution due to methodological limitations, including small sample sizes, short intervention periods, and construct underrepresentation. The motivational appeal of Duolingo's gamified interface emerges as a prominent theme, corroborated by selfreport data. However, the limited research employing psychometrically robust motivational measures precludes definitive conclusions about the temporal stability and transferability of this motivational effect. Theoretically, the provision of individualised feedback aligns with interactionist theories, yet the restricted opportunities for the negotiation of meaning raise doubts about the depth of lexical engagement. Pedagogically, the reviewed studies advocate the careful integration of Duolingo as a supplementary tool within formal instructional contexts. However, optimal implementation strategies remain unspecified, necessitating further classroom-based research employing mixed-methods designs. Significant gaps are identified, including the lack of investigations into the differential impacts of Duolingo's features, vocabulary transfer to authentic communication, and the development of selfregulated learning strategies.

Postcolonial theory is, by definition, the best in this regard. This study compares Ama Ata Aidoo's Anowa and Maishe Maponya's The Hungry Earth through postcolonial perspectives. The study uses a qualitative method, analysing texts from Gilbert's Postcolonial Plays, which includes contemporary masterpieces of postcolonial literature. The analysis reveals that Anowa and The Hungry Earth are exemplary anti-colonial plays. They reflect the cruelty and oppression of Western colonialism in Africa and expose its colonial discourse and ideologies. They condemn and document the aspects of discrimination and exploitation while implying different strategies to resist colonialism, with mimicry, hybridity, and armed fighting being prominently highlighted. This study could benefit students of postcolonial literature by providing a foundation for further research. It also recommends applying other literary theories, such as Feminism and Marxism, to these plays. Additionally, themes of patriarchy, social inequality, and class distinction are developed alongside the postcolonial-oriented analysis.

INVESTIGATING CHALLENGES FACED BY EFL TEACHERS AT BLIDA PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN ALGERIA, 2023

The study uses a mixed-methods approach, including a questionnaire designed to gather information about various aspects of the teacher's professional experience and a Likert scale to measure the level of agreement or disagreement with statements related to challenges faced by primary school teachers when teaching EFL. The study finds that primary school English teachers in Blida face significant challenges due to limited access to resources and support from parents or school administration. Providing targeted professional development opportunities for classroom management training and support can help overcome these challenges effectively and improve EFL instruction at primary schools. The study also identified challenges with lesson planning and curriculum development, but most EFL primary school teachers in Blida do not feel restricted by inadequate access to instructional materials and resources necessary for effective classroom instruction. The study has several limitations, including a small sample size and the use of a questionnaire, but it makes an important contribution towards understanding how the best educators can overcome some of the obstacles they face while providing high-quality EFL instruction for their pupils.
AUDIO-VISUAL TRANSLATION BETWEEN DOMESTICATION AND FOREIGNISATION: A CASE STUDY OF ENGLISH INTO ARABIC NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ABU DHABI DOCUMENTARIES, 2020

Hence, this study examines gender differences in language learning without representing a specific sample area or population. It investigates previous studies by extracting the theories applied, sampling methods, data collection methods, and data analysis tools. The findings revealed that most studies employed simple random sampling techniques, and quantitative data collection methods were vastly more common than qualitative methods. Questionnaires and interviews played an important role in data collection, while SPSS was the most used data analysis tool. The findings from previous studies hold divergent views; while some studies agreed that gender does not have a significant impact on learning languages, other studies hold different views and reported that motivation, self-efficacy, cognitive load, and learning styles, among others, could be gender differences between males and females with respect to learning languages. These findings will be beneficial to language teachers and instructors regarding possible techniques to employ to enhance comprehensive and effective learning among both males and females.

It is an approach that takes us chronologically, and then thematically, through how the means of communication in turn shaped society, culture, and human interaction.
The book, organized in 14 richly informative chapters, outlines important themes from the early rudiments of language and writing up to modern challenges in digital communication. It looks at how and what we say under the sway of major technological changes, from the printing press and telegraph to radio, television, and the Internet.
It is, therefore, noted to throw much light not only on the influence of social media, democratization of information, and intercultural communication stakes in the global age but also the ethical implications of personal data management. It goes ahead to consider how all these developments have impacted the different levels of life such as education, the professional world, and the arts.
Each chapter is organized in as much detail as possible, with examples and reflections on the further implications of these changes. The audience for whom the book is intended includes students and researchers in the field of communication sciences, professionals, and the general public interested in both the history and future development of human communication.
Melding together historical and sociological analysis with prospective reflections, the book has been like a complete, nuanced way that communication has evolved and is still changing, inviting readers to reflect on challenges and opportunities. All this makes one consider the challenges and opportunities the era of digital communication brings at a time when it looks so impossible not to be totally embedded in it and yet offers cues to navigate this changing terrain.
