During the last decades, lots of progress has been made both concerning the technology and the materials used, computer science intervened in designing personalized implants, and virtual preliminary operations are made. But after performing the actual surgery, the task is not finished, the patient needs recovery and permanent assessment. The paper proposes correlative assessment methods for these patients, performed by medical engineers that may work closely together with the doctor in order to decide the best recovery procedures.

Starting from this finding many scientific studies researched for various ways of improving thee patients’ spirit managing to include elements that keep them involved and focused. The platform Medical Interactive Recovery Assistant – MIRA was created in this respect, transforming the physical rehabilitation exercises in video games. This platform provides a set of medical games based on motion, working by means of a special video cam, Microsoft Kinect, suitable to be used in both hospitals and homes. The connection between the patient and the kinetotherapy laboratory in the hospital is done by help of the Microsoft Kinect sensor. This paper deals with the analysis of the MIRA software by case studies based on gathering statistical data, analyzing them and using the results in order to improve the rehabilitation performance. The results obtained by the patients are presented in graphical form and a thorough SWOT analysis is performed in order to highlight the opportunities offered by the virtual reality platform.

The 3D model is manufactured using ethylene‐vinyl acetyl, also known as EVA, a copolymer made of ethylene and vinyl acetyl, which is very flexible and light weighted, also impermeable and UV and shock resistant. Five of the most used materials are analyzed during the experiment Orange Support, Blue Comfort, Multicolor, Green Relax, and Yellow Soft. Dimensions measurements are also taken five times a day for 5 days and recorded in tables and diagrams using Excel tools. In order to perform a statistical analysis of the results, the F‐Anova test is used and applied upon the recorded values. The conclusion is that there is a significant change of dimensions in the orthopedic heels materials that might affect the comfort of the users in certain conditions.

Due to a high variety of materials and shapes it is difficult for users to make a decision regarding the type of device suitable for their situation. Present study offers some experimental proven facts that may facilitate the choice of a suitable orthotic device.

Question is what will happen during motion. This can be done by using an interactive and dynamic software, like Anybody Modeling System. A dynamic approach will dramatically diminish the possible errors that may occur, even if the implant is personalized. This way the future motion possibilities and the new acquired posture may be predicted with more accuracy even before the surgery.

The technology has existed for several decades; however, it was not until around 1990 it really gained momentum (Van Wiele, 2019). In this paper the authors investigated research on 3D printing in libraries and copyright through a scientometric analysis, by searching in Web of Science for libraries, 3D printing and copyright. The data was mapped in WoS-viewer, to show the most important authors, the most cited documents, and the most cited sources. 107 results from WoS Core Collection for “3D printing” AND copyright was found. Also, the authors researched library websites in Norway for guidelines and rules concerning copyright and 3D printing. Norwegian copyright law does not mention 3D printing as such, so how are academic and public libraries te...

In the same context, the various transport development, communication or social activities facilities require an important database and an infrastructure to ensure and satisfy the population needs at the highest level. Accordingly, interest has developed in the smart cities (SC) concept creation with connection possibilities over extended geographical areas. This paper addresses a problem related to the preparation and ensuring the development of Brasov city as a smart city, with the possibility of finding solutions for low-vision people’s mobility and opening even more access to the city’s infrastructure. The paper’s main objectives and contributions are represented by the current considerations provision for ensuring functionality as a...

The development of the argument is made starting from the analysis of the interest in the subject in international literature (through a bibliometric analysis) and the investigation of the online presence of libraries expressed statistically from the typology of forms of representation, to specific digital products and services, thus highlighting how they evolved in the sense of diversifying and modernizing the products and services provided and taking into account the political, economic, and technological constraints. Methods The evaluation of the involvement of Romanian libraries in digitisation activities was done through the such research methods as content analysis and scientometric research, which allowed the carrying out of a longitudinal case study extended for the period 2007–...

This paper aims to identify the major issues in patients’ adherence to injectable diabetes treatment. After the interrogation of the Web of Science database, a scientometric map was generated, from which six directions of approach were identified as essential factors influencing the patient’s adherence. These directions yielded clusters of related articles. Glycemic control with the endocrinology metabolic implications, lifestyle adjustments, the healthcare services, medication therapy algorithm, healthcare services digitalization and healthcare policies seem to have a major impact on injectable diabetes therapy and patient adherence. Further research on every one of the six directions is needed to identify the potential of increasing injectable treatment adherence in diabetes patie...

(…)" (CILIP 2018), is an important skill set for academia in the 21 st century. Over the years since its first inception, it has become a key competence for academic librarians to offer to students. Although there has always been a need to find, evaluate, and effectively use information, the abilities needed to do so have just grown larger, more complex, and more important in the information and communication technology (ICT) environment. There is also a shift towards broader contexts, to connect information literacy with an active, effective and responsible citizenship (Virkus, 2003). Information literacy is about dealing with information overload-how to choose and decide what is useful and trustworthy. Hence, the focus of information literacy training was different from Bergen, with a large amount of electronic information resources in 2007, to Brasov, with less (Repanovici & Landøy 2007; 2014). Our common interest in information literacy in academic libraries also led us to reach out internationally, and apply for funding to support the development of IL in academic libraries in Republic of Moldova, and in the Western Balkans. In this paper, we will show examples of best practices from the projects. In the Republic of Moldova, we joined forces with Academy of Economic Sciences (ASEM) in Chisinau. First, we trained the ASEM librarians, and then we developed a new project, where we targeted all academic libraries in the republic. In this project, the libraries were supported to make IL trainings for their students, as well as Open Access and bibliometric services (Landøy et al 2017). Transilvania University of Brasov also participated in two Erasmus+ CBHE-projects: One in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus and one in Western Balkans. In both these projects one of the modules for staff development is "enhancing librarians' development in teaching Information Literacy". In this paper we will show how the collaborations from our libraries within development of information literacy and other issues, has been beneficial for students and academics at our universities as well as in the international projects we have participated in.

More and more, there is a need to find the perfect way to teach the new generation of digital students about copyright, and how to increase their skills in using in right use informational resources. Internationally, initiatives like surveys, gamification and different games has been used to teach copyright literacy. The authors are from 3 different countries. They collaborated and generated an online model to assess students in copyright literacy. The model can be used by other teachers and librarians in their activities. The results show a great interest in and acceptance for using gamification in student evaluation.

This study focused on the construction and communication of the visual identity of Transilvania University of Brasov. The purpose of this study was to assess if the change produced the effects expected by the initiators. Interviews with students and teachers were conducted. We found that the current visual identity does not maintain a connection with the old one, and our research supported the idea that identity is dynamic and subject to change. The change took place from top to bottom. The current identity is linked to the university’s geographical position in the country. The change produced the desired outcomes, but there were some issues in regards to the meaning of the logo and students and teachers having difficulties in understanding it, and thus the university should better communicate how it wants to be perceived through it.

Design/methodology/approach-This paper is based on a multinational survey of copyright literacy competencies of Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals and those who work in the cultural heritage sector (archives and museums), conducted in 13 countries, namely Bulgaria (BG), Croatia (CR), Finland (FI), France (FR), Hungary (HU), Lithuania (LT), Mexico (MX), Norway (NO), Portugal (PT), Romania (RO), Turkey (TR), UK and USA in the period July 2013-March 2015. An online survey instrument was developed in order to collect data from professionals regarding their familiarity with, knowledge and awareness of, and opinions on copyright-related issues. Findings-Findings of this study highlight gaps in existing knowledge of copyright, and information about the level of copyright literacy of LIS and cultural sector professionals. Also attitudes toward copyright learning content in academic education and continuing professional development training programs are investigated. Originality/value-This study aimed to address a gap in the literature by encompassing specialists from the cultural institutions in an international comparative context. The paper offers guidance for further understanding of copyright in a wider framework of digital and information literacy; and for the implementation of copyright policy, and the establishment of copyright advisor positions in cultural institutions. The recommendations support a revision of academic and continuing education programs learning curriculum and methods.

The costs of maintaining, processing, and acquiring collections are high. If they are stolen or damaged, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to replace. Also, in recent years, personal security is a problem due to numerous terrorist attacks. This article highlights the importance of security in libraries and the view of librarians about the implementation of a security system based on facial recognition in the library in which they operate.
