Jo Van Den Berghe met two Flemish artists: the musician and composer Jeroen D’hoe and the fashion designer Jan-Jan Vanessche; while Valentina Signore interviewed the Norwegian architect Siv Helene Stangeland, (who is involved in the ADAPT-r program) and the Japanese dancer and choreographer Akira Kasai. We chose these four creative practitioners not only because they are worldwide awarded creative practitioners but also because they are important reference points for our own creative works. Interviewing our own example we also indirectly expose our understanding of creativity. The device of the interview was decided to gently access their “secrets” in order to make them available to a bigger public while at the same time preserving their embedment into the artist’s specific world and personality. Any Phd research inevitably deals with the question: ‘What is a research?’ Each thesis contributes in itself an answer, although not a general but a singular one, it embodies in fact a possible way to intend the word ‘research’. In this contribution, I will subject the Phd thesis that I defend in July 2013, to such a question, so to make explicit those aspects that makes ‘my’ research ‘a’ research. Its knowledge emerges as the very result of writing, and the research manifest itself as an essentially aesthetic and creative operation. In fact it faces, on an analogue level, the same issues addressed by its object, the Performative Project: while writing about (performative) spaces designed for the action of the user, it analogously design its own (performative) writing for the reflection of the reader.
