Vaidade e [ir]racionalidade: perspectivas críticas contra a retórica de morte, 2024

It seeks to reflect, in the light of Montaigne's thought, on the way in which rationality, when understood as opposed to instincts and distant from nature, is enveloped by vanity, which culminates in sustaining discriminatory and speciesist action. Anthropocentric ideology, immersed in this vanity, ends up pulverizing inequalities and excluding non-human animals and nature from moral considerations, resulting in a discourse against life in its most diverse expressions - a rhetoric of death. In addition, the text brings up some criticisms of the Anthropocene and its ideology based on the indigenous thinkers Krenak and Kopenawa. Finally, veganism is presented as an alternative to the rhetoric of death, insofar as it is based on the intrinsic value of life and the freedom of animals.

The essay seeks to elaborate a logical-philosophical analysis based on the thought of David Hume ... more The essay seeks to elaborate a logical-philosophical analysis based on the thought of David Hume and Ludwig Wittgenstein about the concept of color. It presents the way each author treats the problem concerning the ideas and propositions about degrees and tries to establish a proximity between these projects. This closeness may provide a key to logically investigate the relationship between the understanding and the world. Ideas about colors, or propositions about degrees, seem to carry, in their logical constitutiveness, an absolute meaning. However, after logically and empirically verifying such propositions, the problem of the exclusion of a part of the sense becomes explicit, making these propositions not "fit" into the world. The concept similarity-difference is used to help think about this relationship between logical and empirical verification and to better increase the understanding about what is the nature of the meaning-giving criterion for this kind of idea or proposition.
