Unfortunately, the construction industry has considerable costs, time, and quality issues, necessitating being resolved. This problem also happened in the Malaysian construction industry, mostly to meet the demands of infrastructure projects. Furthermore, over-processing refers to extra work done during the construction process that increases the likelihood of a project failing. This over-processing is caused by the consultant teams’ slow response time when a problem develops, as well as the site’s poor management system implementation. Lean construction (LC) is the alternative in resolving this non- physical construction wastes. LC is a constant enhancement to the construction processes in sustaining the organisation’s growth and profitability. This research aims to develop an LC tools framework that beneficial to future LC practitioners. This paper seeks...

This cause problems and thus, this study provides a questionnaire survey comprising 24 questions delivered to experienced professionals who involved in Malaysian IBS housing projects. The aim is to ascertain the challenges and suggest solutions on procuring the IBS components focusing for Malaysian IBS housing. The collected result was then verified through several semi- structured interviews with experienced professionals from various field involve in IBS. This study finds that the main challenges in procuring IBS components are surround by factors on price, logistical barriers, and inadequacy on terms of agreement, The result also revealed in most IBS housing projects, the contract agreement between IBS manufactu...

To adopt IBS require detail precision and proper process, if not, the IBS will not bring faster and cost effective but instead expose to spending more time to plan or rectify the defective works. Therefore, identifying the difficulties in conducting installation of IBS components is paramount, especially on the need for supervision work. Without proper supervision during installation, the IBS in housing projects will not only expose to delay, quality disputes, and design clashes but will also cause misconceptions and warranty issues. In this study, a questionnaire survey was designed to determine the challenges on installing IBS components with supervision and propose suggestions to solve them. After gaining the questionnaire result, the data were validated through semi-structured interviews...

Changes in demographics specifically may influence the economy including the property market hence influences the generations. Behaviour and values divergences among various age groups (generations) resulted in a variance of housing choices and decisions made. The generations are the population categorised by the age cohort including the Baby Boomers, Generation X (Gen-X), Generation Y (Gen-Y) and Generation Z (Gen-Z). This study aims to offer a comprehensive overview of housing decisions via choices made between location, house, and neighbourhood between Malaysian generations. This study uses mixed methods approaches with the Selangor state as a case study. The Pair-wise and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods of data analyses used for consumer behavioural decision-making studies were adopted in this study to determine the preferences of future housing choice between l...

Demographic changes would affect the economic and the property market thus contributes to dramatic change that affects the generations. The differences of attitudes and values between generations resulted diversification of housing decisions and the choice made. The generations are the population categorised by the age cohort; namely The Baby Boomers, Generation X (Gen- X), Generation Y (Gen-Y) and Generation Z (Gen-Z). The aim of this study is to provide an in-depth overview on housing decisions of choices made between location, house and neighbourhood among Malaysian generations. This study employs mixed methods approaches with Selangor, Malaysia as case study. The data were analysed using the Pair-wise and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The analysis reveals the Malaysian generations’ housing choices as; (1) House; (2) Location and; (3) Nei...

RWH is not new in Malaysia, successful studies and existing projects can be as indicators for Malaysia to move further. This paper will discuss the benefits of RWH, types of system, water governance and level of public acceptance. A case study of RWH project in Sarawak will be discussed too as part of author contribution in these fields of research. Process innovations play important roles in realizing the goals of the Malaysian Construction Industry Master Plan (CIMP) 2006- 2015. The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) uses compulsion to make construction companies to adopt process innovations under threats of sanctions. However, it does not guarantee that companies would adopt upgrades of process innovations voluntarily beyond the minimum compulsory requirements by CIDB. The review of past literature shows there is a research gap about the influence of leadership upon the intention to adopt the improved version of a currently used process innovation. Large numbers of development works are perturbing and they are subject to the improper management of construction and demolition (C&D) wastes. Lacking in methods for managing C&D wastes throughout the construction cycle has jeopardized the effort to preserve the environment. Circular economy (CE) was used as a basis to improve the C&D waste management system in Malaysia. We have developed a circularity-based planning approach to managing the wastes with an idea to maximize the resources. We collected the feedback from the construction actors in Malaysia to identify the suitable 3R principles of reduce, reuse and recycle and waste minimization strategies to be adopted throughout the construction cycle. Based on the feedbacks, we introduced a circularity-oriented framework of C&D waste manage...
