After having introduced and analyzed this concept, I present a twofold argument: I claim that the religion of technical progress is a highly depoliticizing tool that aims to depict a fully "neutralized" society while not eliminating political conflict. To better supporting my argument, I conclude by presenting as a case study the current COVID19 pandemic.

The aim of this work is firstly to solve the dilemma, and secondly to try to sketch a moral division line beyond which people should not be surveilled and people should not surveil. The solution and the the line will be based on the concept of trust. I will argue that this concept has a crucial role both in a Kantian-deontologist perspective and in a consequentialist-oriented interpretation of ethics. In the first case because trust entails a sort of "minimum required autonomy" that is a necessary element for treating persons as an end and not as a mean, constituting the human limit of surveillance. For what concerns the latter, I will show that the shift from interpersonal trust to abstract systems-based trust (Giddens, 1990) could have a major impact in a utilitarian long-term-oriented evaluation, leading to unexpected results and producing the system limit of surveillance.

This is mainly due to the different definitions (or non-definitions) of conflict that he actors involved are giving about the facts on the ground.
In the first and second part of the paper paper, I show the fallacies that are present in both PKK's and Ankara's position. In the last section, I suggest a third and more neutral legal interpretation of the conflict that could serve as a common ground for the two parties in order to overcome their legal dispute.

I use as a proxy the military expenditures of the major countries. Due to the ambiguity of data, I argue that to find a clear and unique answer to the question of arms race is almost impossible, but different attempts can be made using the theorethical lenses of the main international relations theory: realism, liberalism and constructivism.

But are these trends truly new? My answer is no. I argue that these transformations already started in a significant number during the Cold War period and that now what we are witnessing is a quantative rather than a qualitative change in conflict dynamics, also due to new and more sophisticated theoretical lenses.

I used Antonio Gramsci's theory of cultural hegemony and the fundamental work of Joseph Nye, "Bound to Lead", in order to support my thesis: the United States is a halved hegemonic power, due to the fact that both from the material (economics and military) and the cultural (democracy and capitalism) point of view it is only partially hegemonic in the world.

In this paper, by analyzing the current policy of Turkey against the Kurdish culture and the PKK and the demographic issue, I argue that something will have to change in order to avoid a huge political, social and humanitarian crisis.

I argue that during the Cold War period there was a common agreement between public opinion and the intellectual world, both sharing a "hard security" and realist-oriented understanding of security. With the development of new theorethical lenses (critical security, constructivism, human security) and the new global threats influencing public opinion this consensus is not possible anymore. This could lead to dangerous cosnequences for academia, too.

As a matter of fact, gender-based discrimination is one of the most crucial element that limit access to food, as the data I report show. Notwithstanding the step forward of the Report of the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, I argue that international law still has a long way to follow in order to respond properly at the gender issue in the social access to food.
