Agrotonomy on Instagram: "Vertical farming with aeroponic towers allows for the cultivation of hundreds of crops using the same nutrients and irrigation schedule. Unlike traditional hydroponics, there’s no need to adjust nutrients per crop. This is because the plants are irrigated intermittently (3 minutes on, 12 minutes off) keeping the roots suspended in air 80% of the time, maximizing oxygen availability and nutrient absorption. During irrigation, plants absorb only what they need without being submerged. This consistency also allows multiple crops to be grown on the same tower, as all crops thrive under the same nutrient and irrigation conditions. #farming #agriculture #gardening #aeroponics #vegetables #verticalfarming #hydroponics #soilless"
157K views · 24K reactions | Wildflowers/ poppies were the first flowers I ever grew. Sprinkling the seeds and creating my own little meadow was the very start of my gardening journey- and something my little girl and I did together. I remember looking out of the window with her to see what flowers had popped up! This is my 4th year of growing annual poppies now (I have added some orientials too which is super exciting). I’ll start my scatter party at the end of March, then sprinkle them around the garden every 2 weeks until May! Any gaps I have in the border will be filled with seeds. Right now I am ordering my favourite varieties and I have collected ones from my own garden too. I’m by no means an expert but here’s some things that worked for me - Prepare the soil! I know poppies are known for not needing good soil but personally I’ve found my varieties prefer the VIP treatment, I rake and make sure the soil is of a fine texture, I add a little fresh compost. - I don’t sow in pots or grow them in containers as this was a disaster for me. - More is more- I do put down a lot of seeds. And they find their way and pop up in some other places! Once you’ve grown poppies. You can collect the seeds so will have an endless supply if you want to grow more. The bees will thank you 🐝 They are easy to weed/ thin out if you don’t want them to grow in a certain place - Scatter successionally & go for varieties with multiple flowers. - Leave them up for the wildlife and some Autumn/ Winter structure. You can also use the seed heads in floral arrangements. #poppy #poppies #wildflowers #wildflower #nature #growing #garden #gardening #gardeninglife #gardeningtips #gardenblog #flowergarden #flowers #flower #flowerpower #flowerphotography #pink #blooms #gardeningforbeginners #gardeningformentalhealth #gardenhacks #gardendesign #gardenlife #gardeninspiration #prettyflowers #cottagegarden #cottagegardens #gardener #growingfromseed #florist | 🌸GINA’S FLOWER GARDEN 🌸

Let me know if you need it. The most commonly asked question I get on this blog post is where to source organic ginger/turmeric rhizomes. I’ve yet to find a Canadian supplier unfortunately (if you know of one please comment!) so I find mine at our local health food store but there’s many comments on this blog from gardeners who get theirs from their Asian food markets. So definitely lots of options! Snapdragons love a period of cold weather to establish and will be the happiest and healthiest (and tallest) if they can grow in 35-50 degree weather for a few months. That long cool establishment period will then cause them to explode in growth once the weather warms and you’ll be rewarded with the longest stems you’ve ever seen. For this reason, you can start snapdragons much earlier than a lot of flowers. They’re known as a cool flower, which means they can handle those colder temps and in many zones the best way to get those long stems is to start in fall and overwinter them. My preference is to seed them in trays inside and then transplant out, once they’re 2 inches tall. They can handle temps down to 26 degrees F as long as the roots are established and there’s a mulch around the base of the plants. (Honestly they can probably handle lower than that: they’re hardy little plants!) If you don’t have a mulch option, using agribon frost cloth on cold nights will give enough protection to keep them happy. If you live in zones 5-6, I would highly recommend a temporary low tunnel to protect them from extra cold temp swings over winter. Variety also matters and most snapdragons you find at a nursery are going to be short because they’re designed as border plants. The best overall snaps for all season production are Potomac, Rocket, Cannes, and Madame Butterfly. Within these, you get loads of colors: the ones in this clip are Potomac AppleBlossom and Potomac Orange. These will also keep producing as long as you keep cutting, and will bloom in spring, summer and fall. They’ll take a little break if the weather gets too hot, but will come back in force once the temperatures fall to the 70-80 range again.
