Yves Adams on Instagram: "This one is for the penguin addicts! I am on the search for the yellow penguin again folks! I am guiding on several expeditions to South Georgia and Antarctica this winter. Of course I am hoping to get a glimpse of the golden penguin again, but sofar no luck in the mass of thousands of normal colored penguins. Finding this equally special penguin involved a lot of luck again 🍀 Just look at this sooty black beauty 🖤 So fortunate the penguin gave me a close look when it came on land and went into the colony. World Animal News on Instagram: "Happy World Penguin Day! 💛🐧 @Peace_4Animals had the pleasure of seeing African penguins, also known as Cape penguins, in the wild in South Africa. African penguins can be found in large colonies along the rocky southwestern coast of Africa, spanning from Namibia to Port Elizabeth, including numerous nearby islands. Sadly, the population of African penguins has declined over 95% since pre-industrial times and the species is listed as Endangered. Once numbering in the millions during the early 20th century, today there are less than 42,000 individuals remaining. Factors such as habitat loss, over-fishing, and coastal development are contributing to their decline. 💔 🚨Please help @SANCCOB continue their incredible work rescuing and rehabilitating Afric

However, since the advent of high-res satellite imagery, scientists have been aware that some emperor colonies were breeding and raising their chicks high up on the more permanent ice shelves. But it’s never been confirmed just how these colonies descended the precipitous ice shelves—until now. “We’d seen multiple groups of chicks walking out in this direction, but due to the undulating, icy terrain and a dangerous crevasse field, w
