As such, the objective of this research is to analyse the capital structure of listed shariah compliant plantation companies in Bursa Malaysia. The factors that influence the level of debt in this research are profitability, tangibility and liquidity respectively. The research is conducted by observing financial data of 34 listed shariah compliant plantation firms in Malaysia from period 2006 to 2016. The study has used panel data and the regression analysis is based on ordinary least square (OLS). Capital structure is the dependaple variable referring to debt ratio of the companies, decomposed into total debts over total assets. The independent variables are profitability, liquidity and tangibility. Three theories of capital structure have guided this study i.e. the Trade-Off Theory, Asymmetric Information and the Pecking Order Theory. The study shows that profitability and tangibility have significant positive relationship capital structure. Nevertheless, liquidity does not have any significant relationshipwith the debt ratio. It is most likely that liquidity is not taken into account by listed plantation companies in Malaysia in making their capital structure decision. Since profitability and tangibility have significant relationship with the level of debt, the Theory of Capital Structure such as Trade Off Theory is applicable to plantation shariah compliant firms listed in Bursa Malaysia.

Providing continuous access to humanitarian aid during the conflict or in the aftermath of the crisis poses a significant challenge to the stakeholders. This study acts as a preliminary investigation to explore the precursors of humanitarian sukuk in the region, through qualitative approach. Findings indicate that Indonesia should explore using sukuk to achieve its humanitarian commitments. While for Malaysia, being at the forefront of the industry, is expected to continue innovating the Islamic capital market landscape with sophisticated instruments and robust regulations.

However, less research has examined the effect of economic depression on carbon dioxide emission (CO2), especially in Malaysia. Thus, this study intents to examine the impact of the macroeconomic problems, namely unemployment (UNEMP) and the growing number of people: population (POP), on the CO2 emissions in Malaysia. The study analyzes the data for 28 years, covering the period of 1991–2019, employing a bound ARDL model as an estimation method. The time series data were sourced from the World Bank Development Indicators database. The finding from the study shows that CO2 emissions, POP, and UNEMP have a long-term cointegration. Under this situation, all variables indicated; UNEMP and POP lead to environmental degradation in Malaysia in the long run. The impact of both UNEMP and POP on CO2 emissions is positive. Moreover, it is also found that the damage o...

Drone adoption in the sector has been intermittent, with certain regions of the globe making more use of this technology than others. The process of identifying corpses (often in large numbers) after a catastrophe is known as disaster victim identification. This study provides preliminary results based on cost-effectiveness analysis, net present value and internal rate of return to assess the cost impact of potential drone adoption. The two most essential opportunity costs to consider are time and money.

The study adopted a qualitative method where the information on the issues of Islamic LCs was gathered throughout interviews with different bankers closely involved in LC issuance from 12 Islamic banks in Malaysia. The results indicate that there are three vital issues related to LCs offered by Islamic banks which lead to Shariah non-compliance issues. The issues revolve around the conversion of LC Wakalah (agency) to LC Murabahah (cost-plus), the existence of a sale contract between the customer and exporter and lastly the title of goods stated in the bill of lading. The findings recommend several solutions in relation to LCs within the underlying Shariah contracts to ensure that their operation compl...

It also could curtail the agency cost and information asymmetry between the management and stakeholders. The role of corporate governance thru the presence of board of directors has received increased attention across a number of disciplines in recent years. Thus, this study intended to examine the relationship between board characteristics and firms' performance. Panel data regression of Fixed Effect Model was applied to estimate the influence of the board characteristics and performance (ROA) of firms listed in the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index starting from 2011 to 2019. The findings have indicated that board size, board meeting and director's higher educational qualification are the characteristics that significantly influenced firm's performance. However, in oppose to the expectations of the study, inconclusive results are found concerning board independence. The result also shows that composition of board gender does not influence firms' performance, although several initiatives have been made to reform corporate governance. This result managed to ascertain the board directors' characters that influence the firms' performance
