Dr. Hj Abdul Rahim Hj Ridzuan received the Academic Promising Award in 2018 and Most Prolific Author Award in 2020 for his outstanding performance. He is a senior lecturer from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Melaka campus. He pursued his Degree in Economics, specializing in International
Economics at Universiti Multimedia, Melaka and then continued his Master Degree, specializing in International Economics at Universiti Putra Malaysia. After working for 5 years in UiTM Melaka, he received the SLAB/SLAI scholarship to pursue his PhD in International Economics at Universiti Sains
Malaysia. He managed to complete his studies in 2 and a half years and received Graduate on Time Award. He is currently acting as a Co-supervisor for 3 PhD students, and 1 Master student. At present, he have 1 PhD student graduated on time. In 2019, he was appointed as a Visiting Fellow for Faculty of Economics and Business of Universiti Airlangga, Indonesia, as well as Visiting Fellow for Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, University of Trakya, Turkey. In 2020 till middle of 2021, he was appointed as Visiting Professor for the Faculty of Economics, University of Kadiri, Indonesia, as well as Visiting Professor at Faculty of Economics and Business at University of Lampung, Indonesia. He is an avid researcher with more than 118 publications in indexed journals, proceedings, chapters
in book, newsletters, and others. He has obtained more than RM700k research grants at national level and has won more than 21 gold and 5 special awards from both local and international innovation competitions. At the university level, he has won more than 18 awards such as Best Article award, Anugerah Khas Rektor for General Publication category, Index Publication awards, Consultation awards and other awards.

This paper tests the validity of purchasing power parity (PPP) hypothesis using panel methods for... more This paper tests the validity of purchasing power parity (PPP) hypothesis using panel methods for nine countries in Southeast Asia in US Dollar and Japanese Yen. The results show that the absolute PPP is rejected by the panel unit root test for Southeast Asia countries over the January 1995 to February 2017. However, when we use developed panel unit root that accounts for structural breaks in the data, and test the PPP hypothesis over the July 1997 to August 2008, the PPP proposition seems to hold for after the Asian financial crisis period 1997 and before the global financial crisis 2008. In addition, this paper has used recent developed panel cointegration tests and found the long-run relationship between the nominal exchange rate and the relative prices – the relative PPP – and the results offer more evidence in Japanese Yen based in favor of cointegration in long-run compared with US Dollar is the base currency.

This paper investigates income distribution-environment nexus in the context of countryspecific t... more This paper investigates income distribution-environment nexus in the context of countryspecific time series data from four member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN-4), namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. The short run and long run effects of income inequality, economic growth, domestic investment, trade openness and energy consumption on Carbon Dioxide (CO2 ) emissions were examined by using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) estimation. The annual data used in this study covers the period from 1971 to 2013. More equitable income distribution results in better environmental quality for Indonesia and Thailand but leads to a worsening environment in the case of Malaysia. Meanwhile, no significant relationship was detected between income distribution and environmental quality in Philippines. This paper presents the wind energy potential at Kudat Malaysia by considering the Levelized cost... more This paper presents the wind energy potential at Kudat Malaysia by considering the Levelized cost of energy (LCOE) model for combined wind turbine capacities. The combination of small- and utility-scale wind turbines is the key to the success of the operation of a wind park in the lower wind speed region. In a combination approach, the small-scale wind turbines provide the power required by the utility-scale wind turbines to start the blade rotation. For this reason, the particular closed-form equation was modified to determine the LCOE of a wind park with combined turbine capacities. The modified LCOE model can be used as a basis for setting tariff rates or define the economic feasibility of wind energy projects with combined wind turbine capacities.

Industrial revolution 4.0 requires the upper-middle-income economies to invest in critical areas ... more Industrial revolution 4.0 requires the upper-middle-income economies to invest in critical areas such as technological advancement, infrastructure, internet of things, research and development, and so on. However, as majority of these economies are falling into the middleincome trap, they need huge supports from domestic and foreign investors to supply capital for growth stimulation. The issue on which type of investment should the governments rely on is crucial as it might help the countries to move out from the middle-income trap position. By using system GMM on four different growth models, it was found that gross saving is the main contributor to the economic growth of the upper-middle-income economies. Rather than domestic and foreign investments, the governments should accumulate more savings for future growth and development, which can be used as a source of capital especially in the areas of human capital development, technology, research, Internet of Things, in-line with the needs of industrial revolution 4.0.
