Dubbed hubs and spokes, that policy reorganises the penal estate, concentrating non-citizens in select prisons 'embedded' with full-time immigration staff. The policy also requires prison staff to identify foreign nationals to immigration authorities and obliges prisons to 5029 identifiserte referanser fra søket 2 referanser vurdert som mulig relevante 5027 referanser ekskludert på bakgrunn av tittel og/eller abstrakt

Special thanks go to Vesna, for providing me with a home away from home. This dissertation would not have been possible without your openness and willingness to share your lived experience and stories. To all my respondents: I am deeply indebted to you, for your generosity of spirit and friendship in sharing your pain as well as your laughter. I stand in awe of your incredible courage, humanity, and dignity in surviving the Siege of Sarajevo, and your continued strength and resilience in working to restore and heal your lives in the aftermath of war. I can only hope that, by giving voice to your pain and suffering, your resilience and strength, alongside your laughter, in writing about your anguish over the Siege of Sarajevo and the destruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I can contribute in some small measure towards the never-ending struggle for social justice. Further, I wish to thank the team at the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo Office, headed at that time by its founder, Srđan Dizdarević, for providing office space, critical discussions and companionship. I am grateful to Christopher Bennett, former Director of the Balkans Project, International Crisis Group (ICG), Sarajevo Office, for providing office space in my final month of fieldwork, as well as access to ICG reports and lively discussions with the local team. My heartfelt thanks go to Selma Hadžihalilović, Jadranka Miličević, and Memnuna Zvizdić at Žena Ženama (Women to Women) Sarajevo, for their enthusiasm and generosity, and for welcoming me to join in their activities during the fieldwork period. Thanks also to Zoran Udovičić at Media Plan for access and insight into their work. I would also like to thank the Norwegian Helsinki Committee for inviting me to join their International Observer team in the Bosnian Elections, OSCE, CIM Mission, in 1996 and 1997. My thanks also go to my two doctoral advisors, Professors Craig Calhoun and Liz Bondi, for advice and encouragement, feedback, and challenging questions during the doctoral research process. The inspiration to view nationality and belonging from a wider perspective grew directly from my association with Craig Calhoun, who encouraged me to trust my intuition throughout the research process, while exploring and writing about Sarajevans' lived experience of the trauma and violence of war, and striving to find a voice. Craig's writings on nationalism and critical social theory and the importance he places on historical sociology broadened my horizons at a crucial point in the research process. Carol Gilligan's method of listening for the 'voice of the self' also became a xiv model for my own work. This method was one I was able to explore further as a member of the Feminist Geography Reading Group coordinated by Liz Bondi (with Gillian Rose) during my one-year research fellowship at the University of Edinburgh-a truly invigorating space in which to explore central debates and dilemmas in feminist geography and engage in thought-provoking discussions with its many and varied members. I would especially like to thank Amanda Bingley, Joyce Davidson, Mona Marshy, Niamh O'Connor and Melanie Wall for their comments and support in the earlier stages of writing. This, along with Liz's breadth of vision and experience, and her generosity of spirit in initiating a collaborative book project, rendered my research fellowship at the University of Edinburgh a memorable and enlightening experience. Thanks also to Charles W.J. Withers for extending an invitation to the Geography Department and for stimulating discussions in the Cultural and Historical Geography Reading Group; to Dr. Jan Penrose, Professor Susan Smith, Melanie Wall and Nichola Wood for lively discussions and challenging questions in the Nationalism Reading Group; and lastly, to the resourceful and helpful Departmental staff. I would also like to express my deep and sincere gratitude to Associate Professor Jemima Garcia-Godos, for offering to become my supervisor in the second phase of writing this dissertation. Jemima, your keen supervisor skills, steadfast support and fighting spirit have been invaluable in getting me to the finishing line. I am also grateful to Dr. Anita Häusermann Fábos and Professor Craig Calhoun for detailed and insightful feedback on the penultimate draft. Further, I wish to thank the Department of Sociology and Human Geography at the University of Oslo: firstly, for the awarding of a doctoral research position and funding; and secondly, for providing institutional support after I was awarded a stipend to complete the dissertation that I had been forced to set aside earlier. I am also deeply indebted to Elin Saether, Cathrine Brun and Karen O'Brien for significant feedback on an earlier version of the dissertation during a marathon weekend. Many thanks also to
