Ternary mutual diffusion coefficients measured by this method (D 11 , D 22 , D 12 , and D 21) are reported for aqueous solutions of-cyclodextrin (-CD) + caffeine at 298.15 K at carrier concentrations from (0.000 to 0.010) mol • dm-3 , for each solute, respectively. These diffusion coefficients have been measured having in mind a better understanding of the structure of these systems and the thermodynamic behavior of caffeine and cyclodextrin in solution.

Density and sound velocity of 3-amino-1-propanol, 2-amino-1-propanol, 3-amino-1,2-propanediol and 1,3-diamino-2-propanol in water were measured in the temperature range from 293.15 K to 308.15 K at 5 K intervals using the vibrating tube technique. The limiting values of the partial molar volumes and the partial molar compressibilities at infinitesimal concentration of the amino alcohols were determined at the selected temperatures. The hydration numbers of the amino alcohols in water were calculated from the acoustic properties, using the method proposed by Pasynski. The results were discussed in terms of the number and position of polar groups in the solute. The effect of the introduction of a second hydrophilic centre on the properties studied was analysed by comparing the behaviour observed in 3-amino-1,2-propanediol and 1,3-diamino-2-propanol with that of 3-amino-1-propanol and 2-amino-1-propanol.

The effect of temperature, from (298.15 to 312.15) K, was also analyzed. The concentration dependence of D is discussed on the basis of Hartley's equation. The activation energy for the diffusion process, 18719 J·mol-1, was calculated from data of D at different temperatures. This activation energy is in good agreement with that estimated using Stokes−Einstein equation (18644 J·mol-1). Activity coefficients for aqueous β-CD solutions were also estimated from Hartley equation and experimental D.

The diffusion of paracetamol and β-CD is coupled, as indicated by non-zero values of the cross-diffusion coefficients, D12 and D21 measuring interactions between the fluxes of the drug and the carbohydrate. The measured ternary diffusion coefficients are in close agreement with the diffusion coefficients predicted by a model assuming a 1:1 (paracetamol):(β-CD) complex. The association constant K = 27 (mol−1 dm3) for the formation of the complex was estimated from the diffusion data.

The densities and viscosities of their solutions in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) were measured at temperatures between 293.15 and 313.15 K, over a range of concentrations from (0.0058 to 0.023) (mol kg −1) at atmospheric pressure. By using these experimental data, some thermodynamic functions were derived to contribute to the understanding of the intermolecular interactions taking place in solution. The results obtained from the volumes study indicate the presence of strong solute-solute interactions. The study of viscosities suggests the existence of strong solutesolvent interactions. The above result was confirmed by calculating the Gibbs free energies of activation, per mole, of viscous flow of both the solvent and the solute. The flow parameter values found indicate an activated state less organized compared with the ground state and a process driven by the enthalpy.

Both Ag/AgBr and Ag/AgCI electrodes are used with the rising cell, while only Ag/AgBr electrodes are used wlth the falling one. After different corrections are applled to the observed values, "best" transference numbers are calculated. I n all cases, these best values agree perfectly wlth one another and by applylng to them the Fuoss-Onsager and PMS equations, values at zero concentration, To, are obtalned. Moreover, electrolytic conductances at 25 OC for NaBr at different concentratlons are measured and later extrapolated to null lonlc strength by uslng the 1957 Fuoss-Onsager conductance equation. Indlvldual conductance values are obtalned by comblnlng both llmltlng parameters, T o and A'. I n the same manner, an adequate value for the adjustable parameter a , distance of the closest approach catlon-anion, Is obtalned from both experlmental techniques.

The proposed system is an alternative process for small mines that produce cement copper after the leaching of copper oxide minerals. It is feasible to utilize a circular cell provided with an annular AISI-316 stainless steel mesh supporting a mass of cement copper as the anode system. A vertical rotary cylinder of AISI-316 stainless steel can be used as the cathode. The rotary cylinder, totally immersed in acidic copper sulphate electrolyte must have two isolated slots at the surface to permit the stripping of the copper deposits in the form of thin sheets. As operating conditions, a solution of CuSO 4 • 5H20: 150gdm-3 and H2804: 50 g dm-3, Jc: 5.0 A dm-2, T: 40 °C, u: 60 rpm, can be used. The cement copper must be maintained wet to avoid rapid oxidation. At this stage of the study cement copper of 90-95% purity was utilized.
