This paper presents a comparative analysis of undergraduate student performance in two systems: faceto -face and On-Line education. This analysis was realized with two different courses: Local area network and Interconnectivity. These two courses are part of the Computer Engineering curricula. The results show two important issues: the students are more participative and the team work is improved in the on-line class. The original idea of this work was to quantitatively evaluate face to face and On- line educational systems applied in computer networks. Finally they could not be compared in that manner. Both systems are options that the student s ha ve, and according to their profile they can choose the most convenient alternative. Finally, the Internet is a tool, it does not give better or worse education by itself, i...

Nano-satellites are low cost, small payload delivery systems [1]. Currently, Cubesat is a nano-satellite system standard, where a nano-satellite has structure, power, telemetry, payload among other subsystems, however, it fits up to 1.3 kilograms and 10cmx10cmx10cm modules [2]. Tracking, telemetry and command subsystem receives information from satellite sensors and feedbacks satellite’s status to earth station [3]. When a satellite is within an earth station's line of sight, it is able to process telemetry information. Satellite communication is based on earth station to satellite link (uplink), and satellite to earth station link (downlink). Earth station is capable to manage up as well as down links, see figure 1.

However, this work focuses only on four of these aspects, as follows: Traffic Models, Queue scheduling, Congestion control and QoS routing. Considering any of the three above mentioned approaches, it is necessary the use of traffic models which capture the real

These multiplexing schemes also allow the convergence with current data communications systems. This work is based in the interconnection of telephonic systems through the data network using digitalization and voice compression techniques. The optimization of the resources is achieved using the voice compression standard of 8 kbps instead of the 64 kbps standard, thus, introducing differentiated services in IP networks. The performance of the voice packages is improved in terms of delay and package losses. The results presented were obtained by means of computer simulations using COMNET. The merit of this work is the usage of real telephonic traffic information obtained from the call recorders of the UABC, the information was acquired for several months, which allowed the consideration of effects such as rush hours and variable call duration. The perf...

In this paper we analyze the capacity measurements at different Internet destinations. Particularly, we use the variable packet size method (VPS) to measure the per-hop capacity in some network paths. This
