I’m a Lecturer at the Department of Media, Communication and Culture of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where I teach Structure of Communication (Media systems study), Communication, Social Change and Development, and Theories of Communication, among other subjects. I have previously worked as an Associate Lecturer in Structure of Communication, Comparing Media Systems and Communicacion for Development at the Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations of the Ramon Llull University and as an Assistant Professor of Theories of Communication for the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), as well as a Researcher at the Institute of Communication of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (InCom-UAB).
My main fields of research are communication for development, social change and peace-building; media policies and media systems; and citizen participation in the public sphere. I have been a visiting researcher and/or lecturer at the universities of Roskilde (Denmark), Escuela de Comunicación Mónica Herrera (El Salvador) and Autonomous of Barcelona.
Before joining the Autonomous University of Barcelona I worked for a decade as a journalist -both in Spain and abroad- as well as a communication consultant, among other institutions, for WHO, PSI and USAID in Sub-saharan Africa, where I lived between 2003 and 2007.
I’ve obtained a PhD degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). I also obtained a MPhil degree in Communication, Social Change and Development from the UCM, with a thesis on the genealogy of communication for development, and an MPhil degree in Contemporary Latin American Studies from the UCM, with a thesis on publicness, media and governance reform in Latin America. I hold a BA degree in Communication Sciences (UCM), a BA degree in Political Sciences and Sociology (UNED) and two postgraduate diplomas in Latin American Studies (UCM).

la Administración General del Estado y las demás entidades integrantes del sector público estatal (AGE) y de su posible impacto en el mercado mediático. Para ello se sistematizan y examinan las resoluciones y las actuaciones de este organismo en materia de publicidad institucional y competencia en el sector, en el marco de un análisis más amplio del sistema de regulación y control de la publicidad institucional de la AGE. La investigación permite constatar que ese sistema de control resulta, cuando menos, parcial e insuficiente. Se exploran, en este sentido, las posibilidades de incrementar o reforzar las competencias de la CNMC para monitorizar la distribución de la inversión de publicidad institucional y comercial de la AGE y su impacto en el mercado mediático, contribuyendo con ello, además, a garantizar la eficiencia y la transparencia del proceso.
