Prepare to have “Bitter Sweet Symphony” stuck in your head all over again.
Prime Video‘s series take on Cruel Intentions will premiere with all eight episodes on Thursday, Nov. 21, it was announced on Thursday. The streamer also released the first trailer for the update, which features several iconic details from the 1999 movie (Kathryn’s cross, Sebastian’s black car, and, of course, a cover of The Verve’s earworm of a song).
But there are also plenty of differences in the series, which “follows the elite students of Manchester College, a Washington, D.C.-adjacent university, where reputation means everything, fraternities and sororities are the gold standard, and two ruthless stepsiblings, Caroline Merteuil (First Kill’s Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (One Night’s Zac Burgess), will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy,” reads the official description. “After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Greek Life system, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation – even if that means seducing Annie Grover (the Gossip Girl reboot’s Savannah Lee Smith), the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Hearts will be broken, loyalties will be tested, and secrets will be revealed in this modern-day royal court that is Manchester College.”
The cast also includes Sara Silva as Cece Carroway, John Harlan Kim (9-1-1) as Blaise Powell, Khobe Clarke (Firefly Lane) as Scott Russell and Brooke Lena Johnson (YOU) as Beatrice Worth. Meanwhile, Sean Patrick Thomas (Gen V), who played music teacher Roland in the original film, will portray Professor Hank Chadwick in the series.
Sara Goodman (The Hardy Boys) and Phoebe Fisher (the I Know What You Did Last Summer TV series) serve as co-showrunners.

Honestly, it looks horrible. Remake of a remake of a remake can’t be good by definition.
I feel the opposite. I had no interest in the show but think the trailer made it look kind of fun.
It’s a pass for me. I don’t think I’d make it through one episode, as I could barely make it through the trailer.
do all young actors just suck like what was that , it was like the were all reading off of cue cards , nothing was believeable or raw or tense like when sarah, ryan, selma and reese did it . yeah its a deffinite no from me just baised on this cast of ”actors”
Calling it now. One season before cancelation. Loved the movie but are we to believe that Lucien is bagging babes they way Sebastian did? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but that dude ain’t hot! IMHO 😅
I think I will check it out.
No surprise, what you wouldn`t if there is young guy actor in it!
wish they had just gone through with SMG reboot/continuation version from NBC
Yawn
Would much rather have the Sarah Michelle Gellar sequel that NBC tried to make then this.
I don’t think they could save this show even if the cast was extremely hot and naked the whole time. But I will at least try it out
Well she certainly isn’t SMG.
Ryan Phillippe may have been a plank of wood, but he sure was pretty. This new Sebastian looks average….if that.
Cruel Summer Intentions, if this wooden acting is any indication
But does it have Amy Adams on a horse?
