Peggy Sue and Her Shoes

Transition from conservative to attention grabbing fashions. Shoes became plainer, other clothing became more vibrant. Popular shoe styles included pumps such as Baby Dolls, exposed-toed sandals, flats, slippers and mules, oxfords, and loaders. Men's fashion was driven by the urge to make more lightweight, slim footwear for males. They wore converse, wingtips, and dress shoes with no laces. Neutral colors tended to be the go-to for shoes for men and women, getting more colorful in the late 50s.
