With a 106% incline, it feels like you’re riding a slow motion roller coaster! Tickets are 20 CHF and they often sell out, so you’ll want to book them in advance. The funicular is only open seasonally from June to October. You’ll first ride the funicular backward up the mountain. The cart moves slowly and the views are insane the entire way. The track is just shy of 3/4 miles long and the ride takes about 10-12 minutes. Once you reach the top, you’ll find Gelmersee, a beautiful mountain lake, with a hiking trail and amazing views. The Gelmerbahn was originally built in 1926 to transport materials for the construction of the dam. It was opened as a tourist attraction in 2001.
