🧵 #BuildBackBetter immediately increases access to #childcare by increasing income eligibility right away. @ALG_G21 details state-by-state how the current system compares to the eligibility limit in the first year #BuildBackBetter Act. fal.cn/3lRF0
Under #CCDBG, families with incomes up to 85% SMI have access to #childcare assistance. But with limited resources, states often set their initial income eligibility below that.
#BuildBackBetter Act would expand eligibility from day one to 100 percent SMI. This means the maximum amount a family can earn and still receive assistance, would increase by thousands of dollars.
Currently, in NJ, a family of 4 making up to $53,000 are eligible for child care assistance. In the first year of #BuildBackBetter, this maximum eligibility would increase by $75,000.
Currently, in Ohio, a family of 4 making up to $37,632 are eligible for child care assistance. In the first year of #BuildBackBetter, this maximum eligibility would increase by $53,000.
Currently, in Arizona, a family of 4 making up to $42,492 are eligible for child care assistance. In the first year of #BuildBackBetter, this maximum eligibility would increase by $39,000.
#BuildBackBetterAct will have a tremendous impact on access to care for families. After the first year, eligibility continues to increase up to 250% SMI in the 4th year. This would mean 90% of families with children under 5 would have access to care! Let’s #Buildbackbetter!
