⚠️KIDS <12 are “CRITICAL HIDDEN SPREADERS”—New 226-person study found 2 school kids <12 set off a #COVID19 outbreak. ➡️”Activities of children in the school🏫 spread the virus to their classmates (G2)”, then classmates’ families (G3) & factories (G4). #Vaccinate school-kids! 🧵
2) Apparently two young kids (G1) had been infected by their dad. ➡️ How did we know who in school were infected by which kid? Well genomics 🧬 sequencing showed one kid infected 11 classmates & other infected 12 classmates. (Yes, you can use 🧬 to know)

3) Also super frustrating — the middle age father of the 2 G1 kids brought it back from outside of China 🇨🇳— and then caught the virus “during quarantine” after entry into China. Oy—this quarantine cross contamination transmission has been seen before in many places.
4) So in children age <12, there were 0% vaccinated. In those age >=12, 88.6% were fully vaccinated. This shows you that even with high vaccination, the #DeltaVariant (this outbreak variant type) can still spread incredibly fast! This is why we need kids & adults to #MaskUp!
5) To be clear - vaccines do tremendously lower both cases and deaths. But they are not fool proof. That’s why we need to adopt multilayered strategies of both vaccines and mitigations like masks and ventilation and air disinfection and testing and quarantines.
6) China is now beginning to experience public panic over the new #COVID19 surge. At this rate—its Beijing Winter Olympics are in trouble. It’s only a few months away.
7) Another reason to still #MaskUp until the pandemic is over is that both reinfections and breakthroughs possible. But reinfections (among those previously infected) is much much more common than breakthroughs.
8) So, do masks work? Oh hell yes. Ignore the misinfo and disinfo on masks. See thread 🧵 below 👇
9) key sidenote— We should not just say natural vs artificial immunity. Vaccines stimulate your own natural immunity to fight #SARSCoV2 & other viruses—its natural. What the “natural immunity” folks really want to say is “let’s mass infect everyone” for expediency. 👀 #vaccinate
10) Let’s reiterate the Conclusion from the key study: “Children aged < 12y may be critical hidden spreaders, which indicates an urgent need of vaccination for this particular population.”
11) beware of disinfo on vaccines out there. Don’t fall for it.
12) this is me banging my head about school safety. We need ventilation and air disinfection on top of masks and vaccines.

2) And yes it is RACIST. The boats in the harbor are majority boats from Asia. And he said Asian food - which further connects the Asian boats. It’s racist c’mon.
3) Most Chinese-Americans knows the racist idiomatic slang “Slow boat to China” to mock anything that takes a long time. I’m Asian-American immigrant - I heard this crap all the time. It’s racist. He could have just said the lunch was late.

⚠️More children age 0-19 died of #COVID19 in England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in October than any past month of the pandemic. Plus—kids hospitalizations & #LongCovid also ~highs. But UK🇬🇧 still hasn’t approved vaccines for kids 5-11, nor 2nd shots for teens.

2) Also, Damnit, UK doesn’t mandate masks in schools. “186,000 students were absent from school on Sept. 30 with confirmed or suspected cases of the virus, 78% more than the number reported on Sept. 16, and the highest number since the pandemic began.”

BOT NETWORKS are now heavily pushing anti-vax content on Twitter, according to @NovelSci. Bots heavily RT each other—tricking @Twitter to further promote the content. This matches what we at @FAScientists found for bots also pushing natural infection “herd immunity”.🧵 #COVID19
2) Last year, our FAS teams found bots also driving the “herd” topic that Trump’s advisor Scott Atlas was promoting. It was pretty damn clear it was bots that initially propelled it.
3) In that analysis last year… FAS identified both bots that pushed for herd immunity mass infection, as well as keywords that pushed against it… you might recognize someone 🤷🏻‍♂️

German ad is now trolling America… for 1 in 6 Americans (49 million) go hungry. It’s been true for a long time—➡️ we pay trillions to defense contractors but can’t spare change to help feed kids—especially healthy foods that aren’t junk or cause diabetes.
2) Whether or not the ad is just a trolling ad is besides the point — the scale of food insecurity in America is real.

What the hell—8 people died at the concert, ranging in age from 14 to 27, all crushed in the 50,000+ crowd. Yet the #AstroWorld #TravisScott concert continued amid ambulances and paramedics. ➡️Dystopian—no wonder so many also don’t even care about pandemic #COVID19 deaths either.
2) Was #TravisScott aware of the ambulances? Yes. But he just continued the concert like nothing happened. Sickening.
