@MarkBedell_KCPS - Don’t allow for #Equity to become another BUZZ word! We get excited about things and then move on. Social Emotional Learning is turning into a buzz word and if #EdLeadership isn't careful it will phase out equity without even addressing it!
@MarkBedell_KCPS - Unlimited hot spots for all students = equality. The Equitable part - how do I look at data, structures in neighbourhoods, etc & then build out a tiered support model that provides resources that control those variables that are beyond the control of the SD. 💜
@MarkBedell_KCPS - Adopt an #equity policy and then go back into your budget to SUPPORT these initiatives. Tracking DATA to help give additional supports to students who are struggling, by building learning centres is one idea. #TeVirtualEvents#BringPeopleTogether
@MarkBedell_KCPS - Not able to get #BacktoSchool anytime soon but #EdLeaders but can’t let the students fall behind. Educational malpractice is when you know that you have issues in your system but you allow the #pandemic to overshadow that and call it a hopeless situation.

What can principals do now? @EquitySupt1 - ELEVATE voices, especially of most vulnerable students - and parents who have not been heard until now. District priorities are not always aligned with parent priorities. DIG INTO THIS. #BringPeopleTogether#TeVirtualEvents
@AskAdam3 on #StudentVoice - Students are a partner. We are not teaching TO them. They are in THEIR communities. Staff come and go. Buildings, establishments ARE community. They need to feel HEARD to buy in to the community. #BringPeopleTogether
@AskAdam3 on #StudentVoice - Have we even asked our students what they think they need? Are we just trying to "keep up" to other districts? They need to feel that they are valuable members of the community who’s opinion matters. They need to understand and feel the partnership.

How to support students who disengage? @MarkBedell_KCPS - Check out kcpublicschools.org to learn more about Learning Centres that are coming together in their district. 200 - 250 students, not big, but can help targeted students who are needing it the most based on the DATA.
