Talk:Skids (G1)

You know, considering the last time we see Skids, he's trying to leap into the past to stop Ravage from changing history, and next thing we know girls are kissing Transformers to give them powers, I think we should blame him. He totally screwed it all up. (This is tongue in cheek.) --ItsWalky 15:41, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Is this article really still a stub? -Derik 06:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Skids' tiny fiction footprint

On the strength of a vague memory, I dug up this thread on alt.toys.transformers. crazysteve presents pretty conclusive evidence that Skids was available in shops at the end of 1984 (I downloaded the PDF and blew up the relevant photo, available here) , but the discussion further down the thread is pretty interesting: Zobovor suggests that Skids' apparently anomalous position in the release schedule might explain why he was much less prominent in the cartoon and advertisements than characters such as Tracks and Red Alert. Basically, he fell into the cracks: he was tagged on at the end of the first wave and got forgotten about, and may also have been less readily available than other toys. This is guesswork to a large extent, but it's guesswork that makes a whole lot of sense, IMO at least. Is it worth mentioning here (if only by linking to the a.t.t. thread)? --Tribimat 17:07, 1 August 2009 (EDT)

Henkei! Henkei!

Just so's I'm clear: Generations 2009 is a G1 micro-continuity, and Skids and Screech are from an unidentified second and third G1 continuity? --Xaaron 09:32, 26 January 2010 (EST)

The Generations strips probably take place in the continuity of one the two Henkei comics, but it's hard to tell, given how little we've got to work with. And since Skids is familiar with Starscream's ghost, it seems fair to assume he originates in the G1 cartoon continuity. Mind you, that was a conclusion reached based on the strip alone, before we knew he'd spent a lot of time travelling the multiverse courtesy of his toy bio, so that's probably less concrete an idea now. But the strip does say "from the G1 universe", and there's pretty much only one G1 universe in Japan. - Chris McFeely 10:20, 26 January 2010 (EST)

Gun drops

It seems as though a running theme in MtMtE is that Skids loses his gun for a panel in every issue. Can anyone confirm this? --75.82.9.197 20:47, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

Generations Alt Mode

I think it's a bit odd to call Skids' Generations Alt mode a 'futuristic (Cybertronian?) hatchback. It looks a lot like a Honda Civic to me with a different front grill to make the robot mode more comic accurate. Nothing about it says futuristic or cybertronian. Anyone mind if I remove that bit? Mister Jazz 09:59, 18 August 2013 (EDT)

Yeah, I was thinking that the other day. It's basically just a modern hatchback-y car with Skids' comic grill slapped on it. It has windscreen wipers and everything. Jalaguy 10:08, 18 August 2013 (EDT)
It is a futuristic hatchback, but only because we actually live in the future. --ItsWalky 13:18, 18 August 2013 (EDT)

Main write-up

Okay, a little too IDW-heavy, I think. Skids had plenty of distinct characterization in Marvel. Plus, I'd hardly even call his IDW-self "gruff and introverted". Maybe a little cynical, but yeah. Perhaps we pare all that down to a vaguer description of his abilities, like "he's a fast learner" or something? --Nu-Priest (talk) 07:56, 10 November 2014 (EST)

Definitely thinking the same thing on all counts. -- Repowers (talk) 14:34, 10 November 2014 (EST)
Yeah. Let's stop this kinda crap, shall we? --M Sipher (talk) 17:10, 10 November 2014 (EST)
Okay, I gave it a shot. Feel free to muck with it. I think his being a fan of music is an element seen both in Marvel and IDW, so I figured that should be in there. Nu-Priest (talk) 18:32, 10 November 2014 (EST)
I like it! -- Repowers (talk) 18:49, 10 November 2014 (EST)

Arms

Marvel22-heavy-traffic-skids-reason.jpg
Please tell me I'm not the only one who even as a kid thought there was something weird going on with Skids' upper arms. Takeshi357 (talk) 08:25, 1 March 2015 (EST)
The image description mentions his arms, so I assume you're not the only one. --abates (talk) 14:27, 1 March 2015 (EST)
Skids's model sheet does not have upper arms, so Don Perlin has to make do whenever they're needed. --ItsWalky (talk) 14:34, 1 March 2015 (EST)
You're right, he doesn't. ref: [1] I should probably rework that note to reflect that. -- Repowers (talk) 17:52, 1 March 2015 (EST)

Masterpiece Skids is announced

Well, it's what it say on the title, MP Skids is announced a couple days ago, should we include it in the toys section as a yet-to-be-released figure, or we don't? Supacool9 (talk) 16:06, 3 January 2021 (EST)Supacool9

Perhaps we should wait for a bit more information.--CyclonustheWarrior (talk) 13:47, 3 January 2021 (EST)

Case ratio

The G1 toy section here says Skids was 1 per case, but elsewhere we say he was 1 per every 2 cases. That came from Doug Dlin in the Cybertronian Guide circa 2001. Which ratio is the accurate one? --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 18:28, 29 March 2022 (EDT)

Legacy Mold template?
