After Primus created the Covenant on Protos, the god assigned his first children the task of waiting in preparation for what he foresaw as a battle what would determine the shape of the universe. It was called "Point Omega", or "Shokaract", and the Covenant laid in wait for eons. The first indication of Point Omega came in 2005 when Unicron came to destroy the Matrix of Leadership that had passed on from the late Optimus Prime. Indeed, it was such a climatic event that the god Chronarchitect appeared before the Covenant to warn them of it. The Covenant prepared their forces to join in battle, but the situation quickly resolved itself when Rodimus Prime inherited the Matrix and destroyed Unicron with it. The Covenant were slightly disappointed that they had to wait even longer for the true Point Omega to come.
A thousand years later, the Chronarchitect appeared again, granting Leonicus glimpses of a ruined future and uttering about how history was falling apart to destruction. The Time Walker commanded Leonicus to "RETURN TO THE BEGINNING". Shaken by the Chronarchitect's words, Leonicus called a zemstvo of the Covenant and assigned them tasks to discern if Point Omega was truly upon them. Covenant
They would be forced to wait two hundred years before any indication of Point Omega appeared. At this time, a Predacon conqueror named Shokaract had amassed an impressive empire, and Leonicus was more than suspicious of this character. Schism The Covenant were pushed into action when they discovered Herald of Shokaract Cataclysm's mission to travel to prehistoric Earth during the Beast Wars to safeguard the Dark Essence. The Covenant themselves traveled via transwarp to Earth.
One member of the Covenant, Scorpius, travelled to J'nwan to ask the legendary Transformers there for assistance in fighting Point Omega. His request was denied by the Authority. Paradox
Shokaract was already there and a timestorm had already been created out of the contortions and twists of time around Shokaract's presence. He had been trouncing Optimus Primal's Maximals (and the time-lost Windrazor) before the Covenant arrived. The Covenant immediately went to work in subduing the demigod, whose Matrix of Conquest contained the Dark Essence of Unicron. While Shokaract was initially taken back by the power of the Covenant, his dark aura still proved impregnable and he struck back, killing many of the Covenant. Apelinq, also of another time, could not conceive of abandoning such brave warriors and joined the futile battle.
Megatron, in the meantime, realized the link between the past's Dark Essence and the future's Shokaract; he took the Dark Essence hostage. Shokaract felt this through his Matrix and used his divine abilities to anchor the Essence to this time. To assist him, Shokaract resurrected Heralds Antagony and Cataclysm from their ignoble fates. At this point, Scorpius, as "Sandstorm", appeared to console Windrazor. He presented a plan: to do nothing and allow the Dark Essence to be drawn back into the timestream and remove Shokaract from history.
Shokaract's presence also caused a number of alternate realities to converge on Point Omega. Through this, many Maximals and Predacons from other realities appeared and all fought valiantly against Shokaract, saving Megatron, who was unprepared for Shokaract's power. At this point, the demigod displayed his fearsome Matrix of Conquest, utterly destroying many of the interuniversal warriors. Scorpius played a final trump card, revealing himself to be a Herald of Shokaract. With Shokaract's guard down, Scorpius attacked, dissipating the dark aura that had protected Shokaract. The scorpion was immediately destroyed by the vengeful crab, and the remaining mortal warriors intensified their attack. Leonicus, finally realizing the meaning of the Chronarchitect's words, combined his essence with the remaining members of the Covenant. Entering the Matrix of Conquest, they formed an astral reflection of Primus and attacked the essence of Unicron within. Shokaract was unable to focus on this astral battle, as he was soon besieged by the legendary Autobots and Decepticons from J'nwan. With all of the physical Transformers firing upon Shokaract, the Covenant's combined essence destroyed the Dark Essence in the Matrix. In a colorful explosion, Shokaract and the Dark Essence were erased from history and Point Omega ended through the efforts of many warriors from across time and universes. Terminus
