Overbite used to be a low-ranking member of the Minions of Unicron before Megatron annexed that gang into his growing crew of Darksyders. Much to his dismay, Overbite became an early test subject for Megatron's beast mode process and was coaxed into scanning an oxide shark for a new alternate mode. The experimental technology was only partially successful, and the Predacon was horrified to discover that he had become a malformed submarine/shark hybrid. The Universe Overbite toy doubles as a revamped version of Generation 1 Overbite and as an independent individual.
- Overbite, who transforms into a cyborg shark, was available in a two-pack with Repugnus. An extensive retooling of the Beast Wars Cybershark mold, Overbite is essentially Beast Wars Hellscream with fewer paint applications and a Decepticon insignia on the right of his chest. The beast mode head may be used as a hand-weapon, and the tail turbine has a spring-loaded mechanism for the included missiles.
- This set was originally slated to be available as part of the Universe line's general retail Ultra assortment, but the sudden discontinuation of Universe as a general retail line resulted in a large amount of already produced sets taking up space in one of Hasbro's warehouses. Hasbro eventually struck a deal with Target, who agreed to pick up this set as an exclusive, along with the two other canceled Universe Ultra two-packs of Hightower/Long Haul and Bonecrusher/Scavenger.
