Mudfighter is a Waruder mech from the Diaclone continuity family.

The multitude of Waruder marauder drones can be summed into four types, one of them being Mudfighter, which is assigned to the Thrasher pilots. While each type has its own specialty, they all have the same goal: swarm, consume, and bring consumed metals back to the Waruder apiary. The marauder drones are merely technorganic shells which serve as the host for their smaller pilots and lack intelligence of their own. But one still should not be caught unawares, as the venom from their stingers affects the organic and the technological alike, numbing nervous systems and causing paralysis.

The drones can wield their pilots in their weapon modes, but this risks disconnecting pilot from shell.

Fiction

TransTech

Due to quantum instability, a number of Waruder troops were transported to Axiom Nexus's distant past when they migrated over to its universe. They formed a hive, and spent the next 20,000 years undisturbed, evolving and building an elaborate hive deep underground. Mudfighter exo-suits were grown to help the hive expand and feed, as well as defend itself against intruders. When C-81 and his band of wanted criminals stumbled across the Waruder hive while on the run from the law, several Mudfighter mechs responded to another Waruder's distress signal and engaged the trespassers. Outnumbering the band of Cybertron's most wanted, they forced the outlaws to flee. During the chase that ensued, one Mudfighter Waruder successfully shot down Battletrap in mid-flight. Even as more intruders came about, the Waruders were on the verge of victory. One Mudfighter mech took the Lift-Ticket mech out of the fight, disabling it with a single well-placed swipe. Then, C-81 managed to grab hold of the Waruders' leader, and forced him to negotiate. Several Mudfighter mechs later migrated to another universe via an interuniversal gate, one where the Waruders would be able to feed on Cybertonium in peace. Cybertron's Most Wanted

    • Accessories: stinger/gun
Timelines Mudfighter is a yellow, black, orange, and green redeco of the Generations Deluxe Class Waspinator sculpt, based on the Fox Kids Transmetal Waspinator toy. This version retains the original toy's wing-beating gimmick.
Mudfighter was available in a four-pack at BotCon 2015 that included the three other Waruder mechs (Paralyzer, Parasite, and Storm Rider) as well as the four Waruder troops (Buzzer, Ripper, Thrasher, and Crusher). Mudfighter can wield any of the four Waruder troops in their weapon modes, but is nominally associated with the Thrasher toy.
This toy was repurposed (pre-purposed?) as Shattered Glass Waspinator.

Notes

  • The Mudfighters take their name from a G.I. Joe vehicle; specifically, a Joe low-flying bomber.
  • Before being released in plastic at BotCon 2015, Mudfighter's design debuted in the late 2013 TFCC magazine comic strip "Shattered Destiny" as the Shattered Glass incarnation of Waspinator, who would go on to receive an online profile in late 2016 recycling Mudfighter's pack-in card art.
  • An abandoned plan by Fun Publications would have had the Mudfighter toy repurposed as a body for Beast Wars Buzz Saw.[1]
