- The guardian is an unnamed alien creature from the Marvel Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The guardian of "forces so grand that entire galaxies could be devastated with them" is an immortal creature of much power and much mystery. The weaponry he protects was produced long ago by a race that was around at the beginning of the universe, but whether he is of that race, one of their creations or in charge of their legacy through some other connection is untold.

A fight inside its domain between the Autobots and Decepticons, both parties trying to lay claim on the hidden superweapons, roused the guardian's attention. Using all the talent for intimidation it had, it ordered everyone to leave the place or be destroyed. In response, one of the Decepticons tried to force a third option by shooting the guardian, and found himself subsequently destroyed by the unharmed creature. Convinced by this demonstration of power, the Decepticons made a run for it, but the Autobots stayed, believing the guardian was no more than a hologram produced by Hot Rod using the alien systems. The truth of the situation was revealed a moment later when Hot Rod returned and explained that the installation's technology was too alien for him to understand. Then the Autobots made a run for it too, leaving the guardian at peace once more. Ghosts
