Wing is a metaphor for the atomic bomb.

Braid and other members of his six-limbed species are on a quest for immortality by upgrading their physiology through genetic and technological augmentation. Civil war amongst their race was the impetus for this quest. Braid leads a group known as Slavers who kidnap members of other species, study them, and then add desirable traits to their own bodies. An observer of the war between Autobots and Decepticons, Braid admires the resilience of the Cybertronian race and wants to add aspects of Transformer physiology to his own.

Braid vs Drift Drift 4.jpg

Braid and his Slavers were up to their slave-taking ways on Theophany when their compound was raided by two Cybertronians. His minions managed to capture and nearly kill one whom Braid recognized as a Decepticon. However, he was rescued from Braid's clutches before any significant research could be done to him. Drift #1

Later, Braid sent out a broadcast signal with a secret message hidden inside to bring the Decepticon calling himself Drift back to his settlement. Once Drift arrived, Braid revealed that he was in league with the bounty hunter Lockdown and offered Drift freedom in exchange for the location of the Cybertronian settlement on the planet. Drift agreed and left. Drift #2 Drift #3

Unknown to Braid, Drift was loyal to the pacifists who had repaired him and made plans with them to provide a decoy instead of the real settlement. When Braid's army attacked the Cybertronians, he singled out a Cybertronian warrior of particular skill, attacked him one-on-one, and killed him. Braid's action enraged Drift and, unbeknownst to Braid, the leader of the planet's hidden Cybertronian settlement. The rest of the Cybertronians attacked, overwhelming Braid's army. Braid himself appeared to have the upper hand in a one-on-one fight against Drift, but was sliced in two by a Great Sword wielded by the former Decepticon. Drift #4
