Baro (simply named "Shield" in-game but come on) is an "Accessory" character, giving Deceptihogs he's attached to a defense boost. This bonus can be increased with upgrades won from random-prize Crates or in the "Shockwave's Tower" mini-game.

He can be unlocked by purchasing him with Gems in the Barracks, with Tokens during specific Challenge Events, or won from Crates and Shockwave's Tower. Angry Birds Transformers

Buffalo Drills won't you come out tonight, come out tonight, come out tonight.
  • Skywarp (Deluxe, 2012)
  • Set ID number: AM06
  • Micron ID number: M-06
  • Release date: March 31, 2012
  • Energon Crystal: AP Mud
Part of the first wave of TakaraTomy Prime toys, Baro transforms from a buffalo-like robot into a shuriken/shield. He also has a screamingly obvious drill mode which is not shown in his instructions, yet shown in official photography. Baro has multiple 5 mm posts and peg-holes in his construction, allowing him to combine with other Arms Microns to form much bigger, more ridiculous "Combo Weapons" and "Super Combo Weapons".
He was only available packed in with the Deluxe Skywarp toy, coming out of the package as a bunch of unpainted parts on runners, like a model kit. His extra deco is provided by customer-applied foil stickers on a sheet he shares with Skywarp.

At this point, it should be noted that every release of Baro that follows also came as an unassembled kit on a sprue.

Oh give me a home where the skies roam and the buffalo are cloudy all day.
  • Shadow Baro (Arms Micron, 2012)
  • Release date: April 28, 2012
  • Energon Crystal: AP Fake Dark
A transparent-black version of Baro with a red Energon Crystal was given away on April 28 at participating Yamada Electronics, Yodobashi Camera, and Edion stores with the purchase of 3000 yen's worth of Prime toys. Just like the pack-in version, Shadow Baro comes as an unassembled kit. Unlike the normal version, this one does not come with stickers save the single insignia sticker that goes under his Energon Crystal.
Due to the use of clear plastic, this toy is prone to breaking at the joints, since clipping the parts together puts a decent strain on them. Handle with care.

Moses was not happy about this one.
  • Baro G (AMW Micron, 2012)
  • Micron ID number: AMW-05
  • Release date: July 28, 2012
  • Energon Crystal: AP Mud
A gold-plastic redeco of Baro was available as part of the first wave of "AMW" (Arms Micron Weapon) Arms Microns, individually-bagged kits still on their runners. He comes with his own sticker sheet.

Not as fragile chippy-chippy as one might fear.
  • Thundercracker (Deluxe, 2012-10-20)
  • Release date:
  • Energon Crystal: AP Mud
Packaged only with Thundercracker, Silver Metal Baro is a silver-vac-metal version of the buffalo-Micron. He comes with a new set of stickers, placed in different spots than the other versions, on the same sheet as Thundercracker's.
Thundercracker was available exclusively at Yodabashi Camera, EDION group stores, and Yamada Electronics.
He's entirely covered in vac-metal, including the clip-joints, but the chrome is not as foil-like and chipping/flaking-prone as some older chromed toys. But to be safe, take care with him anyway, as simply assembling the toy can put stress on the joints thanks to the extra width. Consider trying to shave down the joints a bit before assembly.

Notes

  • Baro's name is a shortening of the Japanese rendition of "buffalo" (バッファロー baffarō).
  • Some stock photography of Baro, such as Soundwave's box-back image, shows him with rather pointier spikes on the insides of his drill-parts/legs, rather than the flattened stubs the actual toy has.
