Scenario for testing sysop experience
[edit]Hello mate. You wanted a scenario ? :-D
Please check recent changes... I'm sure you gonna see something interesting...
Simply do what you would have done if you were a Global Sysop and if it was a small wiki with no active sysop.
Good luck ;) -- Quentinv57 (talk) 17:55, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- I've mopped up after the vandal, though in an attempt to do everything right I reverted first and blocked after - something which I would not have done in a "real" situation. I do have a question, though - is it generally good practice to block a vandalism-only account like that for infinite, or some expiring time? I assume infinite, and I've changed the block to that now, but I just wanted to make sure. Ajraddatz (talk) 18:15, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Nice job ! :)
- Yeah, you've blocked with the reason "Vandalism-only account" and you could have blocked for the reason "abusive username" too IMO. This account has done only vandalism, insults and attacks. No reason not to block indefinitely. Same with spam-only accounts. On the contrary, IPs should never be blocked indefinitely. On projects where you're not a local sysop, prefer a block of 2 hours and let local sysops decide.
- I noticed you master the buttons use. But please just read again meta:Global sysops : even if you have the same buttons as local sysops, you haven't the right to do the same things. If you're not sure of something, there is always a GS or a steward to help you on the IRC channel. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:28, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for all of the help and advice :) Ajraddatz (talk) 18:30, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
