First Autumn Finish!

A little late to my own blog party with this new Autumn finish. (I did share this finish on my latest Youtube video) I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get this posted on my blog, but better late than never….

Autumn

Surprised how much I enjoyed stitching this

I have to confess that I would not normally go with a design like this, with some Halloween theme elements. I have no idea why I was so drawn to this one. Usually, I will be enabled by designs on Flosstube, Pinterest or Facebook sites where I get totally wowed by charts and designs, but this one was just totally out of the bag so to speak.

I had just the right fabric from Chromatic Alchemy in my stash a lovely 28 cnt Lugana in colorway Feronia, which made it an improptual new start. Never would I have realised I would get so engrossed in this project and before I knew it I had a finish.

So what did I change?

The chart calls for all DMC threads. I decided to make just a few changes to change things up a little. Here a the change I made:-

  • The Pumpkins hat – Petit Treasure Braid PB05
  • The Owl – Whisper Thread W123
  • The Cat – Whisper Thread W99
  • The last letter N – DMC Khaki Green 3012

For finishing, I decided to have this finished piece attached to a wicker heart wreath. I sourced some beautiful border fabric from The Log Cabin Billericay in the UK. (2110 33 Buttermilk Blossom by Stacy West of Buttermilk) I added so lovely winter berries, and some Robins purchased from Hobbycraft. For the Black cording, I followed the instructions by the Twisted Stitcher on how to make your own cording using DMC thread (Total game changer) I used DMC 310 Black for the cording.

This is the second of the 4 season series by The Cross-Eyed Cricket The Cricket Collection that I have completed. Of course, now it makes sense that I have to complete the series and finish the remaining Summer and Winter designs.

I have already completed the Spring design back a few years ago, but now I have worked a little more with my finishing I think it deserves to be re-finished

I think the finishing didn’t do it justice, so I will re-finish using the same method as Autumn, so I can be happy with my switchable season’s wreath.
