Following the efforts of Nintendo, Sega, and Sony, Konami tosses its hat into the plug-and-play ring with the TurboGrafx-16 Mini, containing a mix of 50+ games across the TurboGrafx-16 and the PC Engine's multiple formats which are listed via their own dedicated menus (PC Engine for Japanese games, TurboGrafx-16 for North American games). The system saw limited distribution through Amazon, and delays in western regions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic didn't help matters.

Have fun playing Snatcher in Japanese only no matter which version of the system you get.

Regional Differences

Game Selection

The selection of games between regions are different, albeit smaller than other mini consoles before it. The following games are exclusive to specific regions:

Exclusive to the international versions:

  • Salamander

Exclusive to the Japanese version:

In addition, the version of Splatterhouse is different according to region. The North American and European models feature the North American TurboGrafx-16 version whereas the Japanese model includes the Japanese PC Engine version.

Tokimeki Memorial's hidden mini-games (Force Gear and TwinBee), both of which are accessible by pressing Select a few times while highlighting Tokimeki Memorial on the game select in the Japanese model, are also available in the North American and European models, however are accessed through Salamander instead.

Main Menu

When booting for the first time, the default menu that is displayed varies by model. The North American model first boots into the menu for TurboGrafx-16 games, while the Japanese and European models first boot into the menu for PC Engine games. In addition, the European model uses the CoreGrafx theme for the PC Engine menu by default.
