Of this, a large proportion is expansive soil. Structures constructed over this expansive soil may be severely damaged due to its high swell-shrinkage behavior. So, such soils need to improve its strength, durability and to prevent erosion. Various studies have been carried out on expansive soils to improve its properties. Soil stabilization is one of the promising techniques used to improve the geotechnical properties of soil and has become the major practice in construction engineering. This study works to evaluate the improvements in properties of CH–CI soil of south region of Surat by adding textile polyester waste fiber. For improvement of engineering properties, this fibers are used as reinforcement by varying percentage of 1, 2 and 3%. The soil parameters such as shear strength, subgrade characteristics tested under UCS and CBR. These values are compared to that of a control specimen. Author critically remarked as CH soil has different characteristics as compared to CI soil under this test. Experiment results show this fact that using textile polyester waste fibers leads to increasing shear strength, dry density, CBR value and reduction in plasticity index and free swell index in CI soil as compared to CH soil. Analysis of result obtained from experiments may be proving the effectiveness of this product to construction site having this both types of soil. The expansive soil can be successfully stabilized by the combined action of fibers with soil.

A few Research work have been done in this area. Safety, serviceability and durability of structure should be considered while designing such machine foundation. In the present work, the foundation system was simulated in SAP: 2000 VS.16 software and dynamic response of foundation was analyzed. The results are compared and validated with the displacement values published in the book "Foundation Vibration Analysis Using Simple Physical Models" published by John P. Wolf.

There are many types of truss available for the construction of roof truss. Analysis and design an economical and stable 2D truss for the usage in industrial purpose like storage rooms, workshops, warehouses etc., using STAAD. Pro.Vi8. It follows the method of design steps of steel truss type structures as per the guidelines of IS: 800-2007 and IS: 875-1987 part 1, 2 and 3 codes and certain amount of decision based on engineering judgments / practices and information from past experiences. In the present study, howe type of truss has been taken using various span and rise. Four different spans such as 7m, 14m, 21m and 28m have been taken into consideration. Four rise criteria such as, L/3, L/4 and L/5 are taken. Angle section and Tube section have been compared for particular span and rise. To get more production the speed of machinery has been increased for low speed to high speed. With the development of high speed machinery the problem of vibration arises. The vibration creates problems to foundation or its supporting structure and it may cause failure of the structure. Because of these problems static and dynamic analysis of machine foundation with different type of soil is necessary. For the economical design of structure provided separate foundation for the machine. It dicusses the load cases to applied and find out the displacement and stress in structure. The results will be compare and check the frequency ratio and displacement as per the range of IS Code of machine foundation. An attempt is made in the study to carry out an observation on machine foundation by using software SAP 2000 Vs.14. The analysis for foundation is also described in this paper and an attempt has been made to study the dynamic behaviour of a foundation structure for LESSAR machine which is used in cloth industry. Two different types of foundations for Reciprocating type Machine that is LESSAR have been studied in this paper.

For offices or for any other purpose such as communication hall etc. soft storey at different levels of structure is constructed. Hence in this study an attempt has been made to investigate performance of a building with soft storey (G+14) at different level along with ground level. Also it has been tried to investigate on adding of shear wall to structures in order to reduce soft storey effect on seismic response of building. The linear response spectrum analysis was carried out and the results obtained from models were compared in terms of storey displacement, storey drift, storey shear, time period and best alternative for construction in earthquake-prone area was selected.

In developing countries like India, vibration problems from industrial assets have been drawing a... more In developing countries like India, vibration problems from industrial assets have been drawing attention of industrial owner and engineers since decades, world over to find ways and mean to have desired satisfactory performance of machines and to minimize failures. In the past, due importance was not given to the design of machine foundation. Simple methods of calculation were used for strength design of foundation by multiplying static loads with an estimated dynamic factor. Even with these so called excessive loads harmful effects were observed during operations. And the vibration may create problem of resonance in structure and there by damage the structure. This necessitated a research in the area of dynamics of machine foundation. At the same time, a more detailed study became urgent because of the development of machines of higher capacities. In this paper, an attempt has been made to review the new empirical methods developed for dynamic analysis and design of machine foundation. For that the past papers related to the dynamic behaviour of machine foundation has been studied and the fruitful conclusion has been made.

In developing countries like India, the generation of construction and demolition (C &D) waste is... more In developing countries like India, the generation of construction and demolition (C &D) waste is upto the tune of 23.75 million tones annually and these figures are likely to double fold in the next 7 years. On the other hand, the reuse of construction waste is highly essential from the view point of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and effective recycling of the construction resources. Using the demolished concrete debris as recycled concrete aggregate conserves natural aggregates, reduces the impact on landfills, decreases energy consumption and can provide cost savings. The use of recycled aggregates in concrete results in significant economical and environmental benefits. In the present work, attempts have been made to assess the effect of recycled concrete aggregate on the strength of ordinary concrete. The basic engineering properties of Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) is evaluated and it is compared with the Normal Aggregate (NA). Similarly, the basic concrete properties like, compressive strength, workability etc. are studied for the different combinations of RCA with NA. The goal of this study is to develop the economical and sustainable concrete by using the concrete waste available on the site.
