Proposal talk:Change upload form
Often what is uploaded is a photograph of something. I suggest you ammend this proposal to add a field for the photographer and for the 'author' of the item in the photograph.
For audio and video I suggest it is worth having a different upload page with a different set of metadata. e.g. for Songs: Music by: Lyrics by: Singers: Musicians: Name of song: Name of album:
For speeches we need to look at a way of putting the subtitles in the metadata, synchronised with the audio.
For field recordings add Recorded in: Language:
For video Producer: Director:
Hmmm. This form is getting more complicated than the existing system.

- The intent of this proposal is to replace templates like {{information}} with form fields that can be required to be filled out. One possible way to implement this might be to have the upload form first ask what type of media is being uploaded or to provide some sort of file type checking and include a MediaWiki:Media_type page to include a list of media types with optional and required metadata which translates into fields to be filled out on the upload form. The system doesn't need to be complicated, either allow more information to be provided then is allowed now or make the system more flexible/customizable. --Darklama 23:49, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Do you mean Commons Enhanced upload form?
I think you are thinking about Enhanced upload form at Commons. Kwj2772 (msg) 14:19, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- I am talking about providing similar functionality to that yes, but without depending on javascript. --Darklama 14:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
