The strangest tourist attractions in Romania

Vida Lake or Swirl Lake (Bihor County)

Also called "The Hidden Wonder of Bihor", Lake Vida is distinguished by the almost unreal color of the water, but also by the fact that in its middle is arranged a spillway, which creates the impression of a huge spectacular vortex. Lake Vida is an accumulation lake, built in 1967, for the mines that extracted bauxite, on the rivers Vida and Topliţa, in the Bihor commune Dobreşti.

Living Fires (Buzau County

A unique natural phenomenon in Europe, Living Fires are still a mystery to scientists. It is about 400 square meters of land from which flames come out, which can reach up to 20 centimeters in height. It seems that the phenomenon occurs due to the emanations of natural gas from the ground, which after friction ignite, causing a real spectacle of flames. The place is only 7 kilometers from the Muddy Volcanoes.

Rusty Pit (Bihor County)

Another wonder of Romania, unique in Europe, is Groapa Ruginoasă, near the tourist resort of Arieseni. It has a size of 600 meters and a depth of over 100 and is a huge ravine that was formed by an erosion of soil that contained quartzite, sandstone and red clay. The Rusty Pit is in a continuous process of erosion, chia and today very active, digging regressively and rapidly increasing in size.
