One Round, Back Around
A downloadable game for Windows
One Round, Back Around is a first person puzzle game, with a focus on time loops.
You're stuck in a strange science lab, with a nuclear reactor going critical, and only a single round in your gun. Can you figure out what's going on?
Made for the Game Jobs Live Game Jam, under the theme "One Time Use". I wanted to create a game where the player has a "one-time-use" pistol, but thanks to time loops, you get to keep using it.
Winner of "Best Use of Theme"
Finalist for "Best 3D Art" and "Best Solo Game".
Patch notes at the bottom.
Controls are available in the "tutorial", however here they are:
- E/F - Interact
- Ctrl/C - Crouch
- Right Click - Draw Firearm
- Left Click - Fire Firearm
- Space - Jump
- Tab - Inventory
- ESC - Menu
There is currently no support for non-standard displays, 16:9 is all that I built on, though I will be polishing to add support for UW throughout the week. My plans for polish are:
- Support for UI beyond 16:9.
- Adjusting writing to be more/less cryptic in response to feedback.
- Fixing issues with clipping and transparent objects.
- Fixing any bugs that arise.
Credits:
I am a lone developer, though I got royalty free SFX and music, which is credited in the game, as well as fonts free for personal use.
Patch Notes:
- v1.1:
- Fixed issue with UI not showing up properly on some objects.
- Fixed issue with Hydrogen-4 animation.
- Reworded some hints to make final puzzle easier.
- v1.2:
- Moved around lemon to be less obvious.
- Added button to interior of food storage to prevent over-use of vents.
- Buttons now beep when pressed.
- Pistol makes SFX when picked up.
- Added text-like image to the nameplates, players didn't know what they were.
- Added functionality to store data between loops. After 7 uses, a door/gun will function automatically. The game should be completable within 7 or 8 runs, this change was made to prevent players becoming frustrated beyond then.
- v1.3:
- Fixed numerous typos.
- Fixed issue with animations playing delayed (damn you Animation OnExit)
- Sped up animations for UI elements and weapons.
- Reduced gun movement, and zoom amount.
