The developed test–kit simulates all the properties of m-sequences including number of 1s and 0s, the run lengths, pulse periods as well as autocorrelation properties. This simplified tool is developed using MATLAB–SIMULINK with required codes as well as desired blocks. The model is cost-effective and the output files of the generated SIMULINK models can be utilized in any software program or simulation procedures.

It is found that the peak of the cross-correlation remains constant for every possible image pairs of the sequences of the same length. However, this unique property is not valid for all the other possible pairs.

This problem is extremely hard to solve, consequently several methods have been developed to optimally tackle it which is called NP-hard problem. This paper presents two new approaches, Modified List Scheduling Heuristic (MLSH) and enhanced genetic algorithm by constructing promising chromosomes. Furthermore, this paper proposes three different representations for the chromosomes of the genetic algorithm: Min-min task list, processor list and combination of both. Extensive simulation experiments have been conducted on different random and real-world application graphs such as Gauss-Jordan, LU decomposition, Gaussian elimination and Laplace equation solver problems. Comparisons have been performed with the most related algorithms, LSHs, Bipartite GA (BGA) and Priority based Multi-Chromosome (PMC). The achieved results show that the proposed approaches significantly surpass the other approaches in terms of task makespan and processor efficiency.

Scheduling decision of these algorithms is usually based on parameters which are assumed to be crisp. However, in many circumstances the values of these parameters are vague. Moreover, reducing energy consumption is a critical issue in the design of battery-powered real time systems to prolong battery life. With dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) processors, energy consumption can be reduced efficiently by making appropriate decisions on the processor speed/voltage during the scheduling of real time tasks. Therefore, a fuzzy logic approach is proposed to reduce energy consumption by determining the appropriate supply-voltage/speed of the processor provided that timing constraints are guaranteed. Intensive simulated experiments and qualitative comparisons with the most related literature have been conducted in the context of dependent real-time tasks. Experimental results have shown that...

Digital data transmission using visible light communication (VLC) is beginning to emerge as an at... more Digital data transmission using visible light communication (VLC) is beginning to emerge as an attractive alternative to wireless transmission. Due to the drop in price of light emitting diode (LED) light bulbs and the switching capability inherently associated within LEDs, VLC is perceived as a highly desirable asset for high speed digital communications. One such application that has been envisaged within this study, is to integrate VLC onto high speed roadways for information delivery. Of the possible types of information, one type could be related to leveraging intelligent transport system (ITS) services that are life critical. Vehicle occupants in accidents on high speed roadways are more prone to greater injury, if not death. This fact is due to the high speed of the traveling vehicles involved in crashes, as compared to their slower moving counterparts. By adopting an accident reporting scheme built within an ITS framework, it is possible to instantaneously dispatch the requi...

Unlike LogicWorks, one of the most attractive features of Logisim is its ability to include user built libraries. This can result in the development of a library that models the complete set of integrated circuits (ICs) required for a digital logic design course. As a consequence, numerous merits can be observed regarding a student's learning level within such a course.
