Now or Never Barrette

The Now or Never Barrette is headgear in Splatoon 3.

It is a 2-star item produced by SquidForce and comes with the primary ability Opening Gambit. It is available from the Switch News channel as a promotion for the Past vs. Present vs. Future Splatfest. It cannot be ordered from another player.

Appearance

The Now or Never Barrette is a large twisted metallic barrette with a bicolored irregular silver-bronze finish. It is slightly dimpled, seemingly having been hammered into shape, and is worn on the right front of the head. It is based on Shiver's special headgear worn during the Grand Festival Splatfest event.

Abilities

The Now or Never Barrette comes with Opening Gambit as the primary ability, which, being exclusive to the main slot of Headgear, prevents the wearer from also having Comeback, Last-Ditch Effort, or Tenacity. As a 2-star item, the Now or Never Barrette comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Naut Couture for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the SquidForce gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Resistance Up and a lower chance of rolling Ink Saver (Main) to fill its secondary ability slots.
