Close Approach
A downloadable game
After an engine failure leaves your spacecraft with no propulsion and no means to alter your course, all there is left to do is observe your surroundings as you drift farther into the depths of space. Nothing awaits.
Close Approach is a first-person tracking game for Playdate. Across nine uniquely challenging stages, scan objects in your vicinity by following their movements using a combination of steady crank turns and precise roll adjustments. Use the instrument panel to help orient your view, locate targets, and align your reticle with your target's path. Mastering the controls and learning to use the instruments to track your targets is essential for success.

Really liked the free/"discounted" version, so I came came back to pay for it and hoped for some rebalancing in vers. 1.1.. Unfortunately, the update doesn't work on my device and I deleted vers 1.0. Can you pleeeaaase help?!?
Unfortunately, the Playdate 2.6.0 update broke something that the game uses so it always crashes on startup at the moment. I reported the issue to Panic and they're working on a fix. Hopefully they can get it pushed out soon, sorry.
I've uploaded a 1.1-hotfix version that adds a workaround for the issue which should work in the meantime until the next Playdate OS fix comes out.
That did it! 🎉Thanks so far! 🫶
Brilliant concept and execution with impeccable vibes. I just wish it was a bit easier, I struggled to complete stage 2!
I like the concept and the artwork, but the game quickly becomes frustrating on the fast moving satellites, especially on stage 2 and 3.
looks beautiful - interested to try it out!
Beautiful graphics and a very addictive concept. But also very frustrating from level 2 on. This would otherwise be such a nice, cozy game.
Beautiful concept and presentation. I must confess that while I had a lot of fun with level 1, level 2 was a bit frustrating, and I was never able to catch the two fastest satellites on level 3.
I had a thought for an 'easy mode'. Maybe when the satellite your tracking goes outside your reticle, the progress can just start to decrease (at the same rate it increased) instead of going back to zero.
Either way, I really like the look and feel, even if it's a bit too hard for me.
Fun game, but I guess I'm too ham fisted, some of the meandering satellites in stage 2 are too hard for me! ðŸ˜
AMAZING concept!!! And the game is really fun! Do you plan to add more content?
