STUDY DESIGN Unstimulated whole saliva and tumor tissue was obtained from clinically suspected patients with OSCC. A total of 130 patients diagnosed with OSCC were included as study participants. The assessment of cervical lymph node metastasis was done before surgery using imaging scans and post surgically confirmed by histopathologic examination of excised lymph nodes. miR-21 expression was evaluated using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The data was statistically analyzed for correlation analysis, cutoff values, sensitivity, and specificity. The κ statistic was applied to assess the degree of agreement between the lymph node metastasis and miR-21 expression. RESULTS miR-21 expression showed a statistically significant correlation with cervical lymph node metastasis with a diagnostic accuracy of 65% to 71.54% in saliva and 69% to 81.54% in tumor tissue. Very good agreement was observed between tumor tissue miR-21-3p and cervical lymph node metastasis with a specificity of 80.60% and a sensitivity of 82.40%. CONCLUSIONS miR-21 expression in saliva and tumor tissue of patients with OSCC showed high diagnostic accuracy for assessment of cervical lymph node metastasis. It can be used as an alternative for assessment of cervical lymph node metastasis before surgery.

Methods This multicenter international methodology study followed standardized guidelines for a four-phase questionnaire development. Here, we report on the pretesting and validation of our international questionnaire. Adults with current or previous COVID-19, in institutions or at home were eligible. In the pretesting, 54 participants completed the questionnaire followed by interviews to identify administration problems and evaluate content validity. Thereafter, 371 participants completed the revised questionnaire and a debriefing form to allow preliminary psychometric analysis. Validity and reliability were assessed (correlation-based methods, Cronbach’s α, and intra-class correlation coefficient). Results Eleven countries within and outside Europe enrolled patients. From the pretesting, 71 of the 8...

Many heart diseases are treated with Abana. Abana was found to have antihypertensive as well as antianginal effect. Though there was a report for its antihypertensive effect, experimental evidences are lacking to establish its antihypertensive effect. Two experimental models were used to study the anti-hypertensive effects of Abana 1. In the first model, hypertension was induced by the treatment of deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA+NaCl 0.9%) in unilaterally nephractomised rats and Abana (3g/ kg/day/) was administered for 3 weeks in these animals.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed as the causative virus... more Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed as the causative virus of COVID-19 disease, which is currently a worldwide pandemic. Efavirenz, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), is one of the most potent chemical compounds proposed to treat COVID-19 infection. We, therefore, performed virtual screening on FDA approved drugs that are similar to the efavirenz moiety. Subsequently, the compounds were subjected to screening by analyzing their drug-likeness, such as Lipinski's rule of five and ADMET properties. Molecular docking study revealed that Met165, His41, His163, and Phe140 were important interacting residues for COVID-19 main protease receptor-ligand interaction. Five top-ranked compounds, podophyllotoxin, oxacillin, lovastatin, simvastatin, and gefitinib, were selected by virtual screening and docking studies. The highest occupied molecular (HOMO) orbital, lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) and energy gap values was calculated using density functional theory (DFT). The results of the study showed that lovastatin and simvastatin might be considered as lead compounds for further development for COVID-19 main protease inhibitors.
