Lord of the Flies

Always wanted to do my own version of this book cover. It's basically a graphite drawing with FW and Sumi Inks, then scanned and finished in Photoshop. Barron Storey and Sam Weber are both illustrator giants that have done amazing images for this classic book. I wanted to challenge myself and see what I could bring to the table. Enjoy! In chapter 9 of Lord of the Flies, Simon wakes up after passing out in the jungle after his encounter with the pig head or the ''Lord of the Flies. '' As he returns to the camp, he sees the corpse of the soldier with the parachute and realizes that they had been mistaken about the beast all along. Approaching the body, Simon finds it ridden with flies. After throwing up, he decides to release the lines of the chute, freeing the body from its perch. Soon after, Simon's life will end at the hands of the bloodthirsty boys; and the parachutist, caught in the windstorm, will join Simon's body in the sea.
