You can add decorative trim without an ugly overhang by using inexpensive base cap transition from your existing baseboards to your new trim. Here is how : You can smoothly transition from your existing baseboard to your 3/4 inch trim boards by adding a simple and budget friendly base cap trim upside down on your existing tapered baseboard. This will transition from the standard baseboard curved top to your 3/4 inch trim and eliminate any ugly overhang. I used a Woodgrain baseboard from Home Depot. It’s readily available and super budget friendly. After nailing in all the trim pieces I caulked the seams and painted the
