Hi Sonia, thanks for your advice on IRC the other day. I have now finally sorted out what was wrong and Twinkle is back. One of the gadgets in preferences clashes with it. I turned most of them off and now it works, but I am not sure which particular one it was. Thanks again, --Peterdownunder (talk) 12:17, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good to know. Something like that happened to me on enwiki, and as I recall it was the experimental version of popups that broke it for me. sonia 23:19, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your new book

Congratulations - you have a new book! And this one is much thicker than the last. Enjoy. Peterdownunder (talk) 12:17, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! sonia 23:19, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

...for blocking 92.43.64.69‎. I was adding the IP to VIP when you placed the block. :) NotImportant (talk) 10:37, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your attention! Shouldn't be online, but stopped by at just the right time it seems. sonia 10:51, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[change source]

Hi Sonia, I am a long-time Wikipedia contributor for the Malay version and I just started contributing here. I don't know the policy for categories here and was confused as to how to categorize the articles. Also, I wonder why the Reader's Digest picture doesn't appear although it has been uploaded in Wikimedia. Please delete the irrelevant categories and if you can, do change them so that I do know how to do it right the next time. — PM Poon (talk) 21:26, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was on a very limited internet connection when I left that message and couldn't check if you were active elsewhere; I assumed so given your apparent experience with wikicode. The picture has been uploaded, yes, but as you can see by the URL it was uploaded on en.wikipedia, not here. This project does not currently accept local uploads so pictures only show up if they are on Commons. sonia 23:18, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry to barge in... I had the same question regarding categories: When I use en: wp as starting point, categories are also copied over. What is the policy - delete categories that don't exist? Put on the ones that do exist for sorting to commence at some later date? Or leave cats on so that in future articles are already categorised per en: wp and no need to look at it again? Is there a "non-existent-category-with-content" page somewhere? (hope that makes sense).
And what about images that are left in but don't exist on commons? I wouldn't mind uploading some to commons (as I'm a blow-in from there) where possible. Is there a list of pages with broken image links? Or is there some help page I haven't located that can answer all my questions? Sorry if there is! Anyway. Thanks for your help. Saying hey

[change source]

Hi Sonia! Thanks for the welcome. Like yourself, I am an OA on Wikipedia. I signed up to assist Adrianne's Children's Literature course a while back, but I didn't know that she was using Simple Wikipedia. I hadn't actually edited over here before, so I thought I should check it out to make sure I'm not in over my head. Is there a resource that provides a comparative table between the simple and en? I understand the change in grammar and wording, but I'm wondering what else is different. Ideas? Thanks, Cindamuse (talk) 23:48, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Heh- was going to reply after lunch! Well, in essence there's not much of a policy difference; most of the differences are to do with the size of the community (say, Special:RecentChanges moves slowly enough one can keep track of everything that way, or there is only one real main discussion forum, and that's Simple talk, etc). WP:EnWP, which I wrote a while ago, is what I assume you found? It's useful, but mostly for the vandalfighters and less for content-builders. sonia 00:48, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Introducing Myself

[change source]

Hello Sonia! My name is Megan, I am in Professor Wadewitz Children's lit class. We are supposed to introduce ourselves to get familiar with Wikipedia. I have a feeling we will be talking a lot as I am getting used to this new form of writing. Thanks!

Meganblair1 (talk) 18:16, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Megan! Great to see you. I look forward to chatting with you and the other students this semester! I'm also available by email or other means (gtalk, facebook, skype etc) if you like. sonia 22:20, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sonia! I have never talked to you before, so I just wanted to say hello! So... Hi! :) Orashmatash (talk) 20:56, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Seen you around a bit, never interacted with you. Now that's changed! :P sonia 22:54, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep! Maybe i'll see you around sometime. :) Orashmatash (talk) 17:04, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ENWP Ref citing

[change source]

Hello Sonia! Thanks for actually letting me know I did something wrong, not many people do that :). Just letting you know, I changed the reference. I must apologise, I did actually think there was a policy/guideline page I missed out when I was catching up on the rules, but I've found it, and it was in fact WP:CIRCULAR. Thanks again! Orashmatash 20:04, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Much obliged, thanks for the quick action and reply! sonia 20:07, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. Orashmatash 22:13, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Class work beginning for online ambassadors

[change source]

My class has started editing their articles - please watch over them as they start. Thanks! See the list here. Awadewit (talk) 19:34, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the students are really going to need help with sources - please help them! Thanks! Awadewit (talk) 02:49, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looking. A couple haven't edited in a while-- will you be following up on that, or should I? sonia 08:09, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I'm happy to help and I'm extra happy to help the students who are putting forth the effort now. It will be a long day if I have to come along and clean up/tutor on nine articles simultaneously. Good to know you're out there to assist as well! I'm also not as familiar with simple.wp as en.wp, so if you see me making an error, please interrupt and give your wisdom. —Justin (koavf)TCM23:26, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly will. Thanks again. sonia 00:40, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Sonia I just wanted to thank you for your very quick feed back on my editing. I still have a long way to go for the assignment, but it makes me feel a lot better to know that you think I am doing fairly well. Thanks and I would appreciate your feedback anytime you want to give it to me. Meganblair1 (talk) 04:09, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania Admin panel

[change source]

Thank you for your answers for my Wikimania panel, this is a notice of acceptance (a formal one instead of just the sign up :P). If you know anyone who still would like to participate and meets the criteria of being an administrator and their wiki not already taken, please let them know as this is the final week to signup. If you have any questions, please stop by my enwiki talkpage linked in the signature. Thanks. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 02:10, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Everyone is always so polite to you Sonia, even IPs. What gives? :) Kennedy (talk) 12:42, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I'm that Ip,184.44.129.49,my Ip changes once and a while,not a sock cause I can't switch back to an Ip,nor do I pretend to be someone else I Swear.74.163.25.129 (talk) 14:20, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I didn't think you were socking or whatever, I didn't even look into that. I did think it was one single person with two IPs, but an IP address can change when you go to different PCs, use a mobile device or even just turning off and on your PC. Have you considered registering? Kennedy (talk) 17:26, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Nah,I'm not good anoth to.74.163.25.129 (talk) 18:53, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I made an account when I was still in high school, and a rather immature teenager at that! You don't seem any less "worthy" of an account, if such a criteria existed, than I was. Nice to meet you anyway! sonia 22:29, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not view me as a scrooge for being the bring down here but TailsMan67 is banned by the community at the more advanced Wikipedia, i was wondering if that means anything here? MIVP - (Can I Help?) 21:17, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[change source]

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. SimpleWikiforyou123 (talk) 11:06, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

...Did I just get welcomed with a template I originally made? (Thanks, though.) sonia 11:12, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
They did the same thing to Peterdownunder. And their only other edit other than that is to Twinkle. Idontknowwhatsgoingon! Kansan (talk) 16:52, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Admin activity

[change source]

This is just notice to let you know your account was below the inactivity requirement of 100 edits and/or actions on October 1st. Should you still be below 100 on January 1st your admin tools will be removed per WP:Inactive administrators. If you know you will not be active in the next couple of months feel free to let us know and we can just remove them now otherwise it will be done automatically at the beginning of the new year. -DJSasso (talk) 11:41, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welp. I've really been terrible, haven't I? I don't really want to game the system with pointless minor edits although I do think I'll be more active next year, so I'm going to write as many articles as I can while travelling: if I don't make the limit, so be it. sonia 15:26, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Alright just to let you know we are back at the same point again this year. If you are below 100 at the end of the year you will have your bit removed. -DJSasso (talk) 13:30, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
