Vidarabin je nukleozidni antibiotik izolovan iz Streptomyces antibioticus. On poseduje antineoplastična svojstva i ima širok spektrar dejstva protiv DNK virusa u ćelijskim kulturama. On ima znatnu antiviralnu aktivnost protiv infekcija uzrokovanim mnoštvom različitih virusa, kao što je herpes virus.[6][7]
