Dec 26, 2017 at 17:43 comment added Dodzi Dzakuma @JennyD I think I found the problem. My VPS is IPv6 and rubygems does not support IPv6 yet. I either need to add an IPv4 interface, wait for rubygems to implement IPv6 or stop using ruby. help.rubygems.org/discussions/suggestions/… This was also confirmed by my VPS provider.
Dec 26, 2017 at 10:50 comment added Jenny D If it's iptables that's the issue, you should find traces of it in the firewall logs.

Added information about what the real problem may be.
Dec 25, 2017 at 21:56 comment added Dodzi Dzakuma @JennyD I can actually change the iptables myself if need be. I need to add the IP of rubygems.org to the table to have access to ruby gems?

Dec 25, 2017 at 17:39 comment added Jenny D In that case, you need to contact the support of your hosting provider. You need to tell them that you get Network is unreachable when you try to connect to port 443 on 151.101.66.2.
Dec 25, 2017 at 15:06 comment added Dodzi Dzakuma @JennyD I ran a netstat -nr command and nothing was returned. I guess the VPS sets it up this way for safety and I need to configure it as need be?

Added the results of my netstat -nr command. Nothing was returned.
Dec 25, 2017 at 10:36 comment added Jenny D This isn't a gem problem, it's a network problem. What does netstat -nr show?
